Dual monitor configuration causes client issues.

Hey everybody, I just added a second monitor to my desktop and when i play EVE (eve plays on main display) I'm having problems with the client running incredibly slow. Too slow to play the game. I have tested other games with the new dual monitor configuration and the problem does not exist. Call of Duty Black Ops for example, a game with much heavier graphics runs absolutely flawlessly with maximized settings. I was wondering if any of you knew a workaround or anything that i could do to correct this issue. My PC is a custom built gaming rig and has hardware completely capable of handling EVE at its max settings (on one monitor at least).

Also I have noticed that with two monitors, if I were to click the mouse on the other screen with EVE running, or any full screen game, the client will instantly minimize itself. I was also wondering if there are any known workarounds to keep EVE always on top.

Thanks a lot for any help!

To avoid the issue with the minimization when you click on the other monitor switch your eve display to Fixed window. Its in the display and graphics tap in the escape menu.

Same with any other full screen game. Look in their options for a fixed window or windowed mode. Its because fullscreen programs only show up when they are active, and by clicking on another window or your desktop they are not longer active till you open them back up

I think the problem is with windows and you will find that in general only a single game can be full screen. Solution is to play in (fixed) windowed mode. I prefer to drag my clients between screens anyway, depending on which has my primary focus.

You mention the game runs to slow for you to play. Is this with a single client running full screen or multiple all full screen
I am having (perhaps) a similar issue, but it only occurs when I am running at least three clients. It seems like it is a bug too. Basically, I can run 3 clients with all consistent 40-50 fps (2 run at 40-60 and spend more of their time at 60). But, fairly often fps across all 3 clients drops to < 5 fps. (In fact my entire computer becomes just as sluggish).

So it looks like some component gets heavily overloaded. Likely suspects are CPU and GPU and I have 4 cores and 2 Geforce 460GTX cards in SLI.

thanks both of you on the minimizing issue. But the performance issue is not resolved. I have found that there are some instances when the game will play somewhat fast but not entirely fast enough. This is with only one client running I have yet to open more than one. I have a quad core (intel q6700) and a single 9800GTX

I have seen this problem on my machine and it might to have to do with somehow overloading the GPU memory, which seems to cause the GPU driver to swap the memory constantly, which in turn kills the performance. On a GTX 275 with two screens this happens normally (the exact circumstances vary) with 2 clients with highest settings (including anti-aliasing at high) or with three clients with anti-aliasing at medium. Try to reduce your settings to avoid this problem and avoid anti-aliasing at high, if you want to run more than one client.

I am not sure, if you have the same issue, but it could be possible if you are running at max settings including anti-aliasing at high. With Crucible 1.5 anti-aliasing at high was fixed to work properly, which causes an increased amount of video ram.

Right now I have EVE running in the main screen, with this forum in my second and I'm seeing the entire PC become bogged down. I currently have anti-aliasing set to medium that made no difference. I have 512mb of video ram.

Also, as soon as i minimize EVE the PC speeds right up. I haven't played much but right now i'm sitting in my hangar (idk if that makes a difference for performance)

OK I just isolated the issue. It is with anti-aliasing. I just turned it off now everything performs great. Although I want to call this as an issue because I know for a fact that this PC can easily handle that because I play other much more graphically intense games with anti-aliasing maxed.

Welcome to small group of EvE players that suffer because they have more than 1 and less than 3 screens.

Like someone mentioned: FIX window. Don't know why, but fullscreen have more problems.
Second thing: you can run all max besides AA. Make it lower and it will go with no problem.
Also in-space is no problem, but with card like GTX 260 or lower you must resign with hi interior effects.

What more, the interior stuff doesn't think about dual-screen. Walking in station or char customize is a pain in the ass because the pointers can't be fixed left-right like when flying the ship.
When u customize your char it is splited between screens half on one and half on other one XD
When u try to walk in station you can't go straight across (not exactly, but when camera is fixed L-R your char must look at wall to go on balcony).

Issued it on bugreports, but everyone had mi "somewhere".

I have a similar issue I used to run 4 clients on 2 screens a 22inch led and a 42inch HDTV with a hd6970 2gb it ran perfectly with everything maxed
I ran it windowed mode and resized them to fit had no problem at all

so I bought another hd6970 and plugged in another screen so ran 4 clients on 2 22inch LEDs and a 42 inch hdtv but I was struggling to get 20fps it was horrible I have 2 cards that could run all 4 maxed on thier own so wtf

I changed the interval to immediate from one and it solved the problem but when I'm docked the temp can go to 70c when I'm in space its 57c to 62c so not really an issue anymore but when was that happening

any ideas I run i7 2600k with 16gb 1600mhz ram 2x hd6970 2gb

What I do is run my second client and second monitor on really low setting and fixed window mode. Also if you click esc you can see that there is a 1 and in the graphics card above the interval setting, make sure you don't have the same on both clients.I slo reduced the load from teamspeak
