Yup! alot of console players i expect are 16+ old enough to sell your bodies for cash...or work (whatever floats your boat)

You can pick up ps3's pretty damn cheap. You wont even need a controller cos you can just use the mouse and keyboard you use for browsing this very forum. (unless your on a laptop in which case a mouse and keyboard combo wont cost more than a ps3 controller)

Sony PS3 was the lesser of two evils.

Microsoft is notorious for screwing up online play. Charging for necessary game fixing patches and such.

Possibly. And it might happen in the future when they work out how to properly balance the responsiveness of different input devices and provide a balanced game environment.

However, I think it is a smart move to diversify their customer base. Picking up a whole new revenue stream on a different platform makes the company stronger.

An initial release on the PC would have muddied the waters too much.

I still believe they are going to release it on PC. They just want to get some cash from the ADD console gamers for that initial month or so after the game comes out. It'll die off in 2 to 4 weeks just like any other console game and they can announce their plans for PC release.

Side note: Sony really is one of the most vile entities in the universe.

That sounds like a solid plan. Remove the core input device for a PC and require all your users to purchase a controller if they don't have one so they can play the game. I can see you are a budding businessman. Roll

You can't do that with Sony.

I've worked for SCEE and I can tell you there are downsides compared to working with Sony. One of them is not being able to patch daily. In 2009 it was 4 weeks turn around.

Talking out of your backside....no patch has ever had a charge with it. Content updates labelled as DLC yes, patches no.

Some of the biggest online console titles are on xbox and 360. I'm not a fan of console shooters but M$'s strengths are in the online part. PSN can't even hold a candle to Xbox live.

We're also sorry but every patch you put out will cost 10k usd.
We're also sorry you cannot patch daily to fix exploits.
We're also sorry you cannot connect to outside networks.

dont ask about our failed experiment with this either.

I think Sony demanded Dust be PS3 exclusive because they knew PC FPS gamers would rip their Call of Reskin customers a new hole...

Sony - one of the most vile, despicable companies on this planet has been literally bending their customers over every single chance they get for the quite awhile now. Look at the PS3. They removed the backwards compatibility for one reason, so they could "remake" older games and resell them for more money.

Now, look at the rumors for the PS4. Absolutely no backwards compatibility. It looks like they are trying to completely destroy the reselling of games because games now require you to log in to PSN. If you resell, the person that buys the game will not have complete access to the game because the key is locked to the original owner's PSN.

Imagine if this worked with cars. You buy a used car but since you aren't the original owner the brakes won't work, ever. Have fun!

How does this bode with Dust514? When CCP ports it to PS4 will they continue support for the PS3 version or are we all going to get screwed once again?

How could you partner with such a reprehensible company CCP?

You sir are an idiot. please wake up and join reality before you post this nonsense.

It is common knowledge in the gaming world EA, Microsoft and Sony want to kill the used video game market, this market does not generate any cash for them and they are greedy bastards. This is common knowledge to those that watch the Video game market.
This is not a SONY only thing, this is across the board. The used game market takes profits out of their pockets is what the Higher ups at EA, Microsoft and SONY think.

The next Xbox will not have backwards compatibility either.

Justt like PS2, they will support PS3 for another year or so depending how PS4 sells.

Is it me or does this OP seem to be screaming. "I have an Xbox360 and mommy and daddy told me NO when I asked them to buy me a PS3 for Dust"

So who were they gonna go with? Nintendo?

Microsoft was too anal about controlling everything to let CCP do:
-Free to play
-Connectivity to TQ, kinda vital here
-Free expansions and patches

That and since Dust is F2P redownloading a new version shouldn't be too bad. CCP likely already has plan for the PS4. Since they are using a standard engine like the Unreal engine they probably won't have much technical work to do and will simply be updating graphics. If the PS4 uses the same PSN then not a whole lot of technical changes here either.

Hey hey

Didn't you see video demo when they first introduced Dust they showed a WII fit use for full action mining!! Sim!!

Someday I will have the time to play. For now it is mining afk in High sec. In Cheap ships

Yah, cause requiring everyone to buy a $300 console is SOOOOOOOOOOO much cheaper then a controller, RIGHT?

Despite the obvious reality that CCP went with the people that will actually allow them the freedom they require to make dust work; the argument of concerned players boils down to "I don't want to have to buy a PS3 for this game".

Dear child. Nobody is required to buy a $300 console. Nor did I ever suggest it should be so. I am certainly not going to purchase one. Fortunately my partner has one, so if I want to try the game I can use that.

Please try to not invent positions for other people - it is making you look really, really stupid.

Actually, every single patch or anything that you need for Xbox has a charge on it, it's called Xbox Live, you know that thing you pay for that allows you to pay for other things. Most asinine thing I've ever seen.
