Although I like to post daily about my conquests, sometimes I just need to do some corp things. The past two days I have been busy being "Like a Boss" as seen on youtube. Yesterday I had time to make one hero tackle before I got lit up like a Christmas tree..I then was stuck in Cyno mode. Not one of my favorite things by the way.

The bright side yesterday mostly had to do with our beloved old CEO Necro Blast coming back to game after 10 months of hiatus. I only have one thing to say to those residents of Curse. Welcome to my killboard.

If anyone is looking for a small scale corp, join the A4D Bar, I will be on later tonight...or leave a message.

The main problem with not playing as often is that I get rusty. Rust is never a good thing, sometimes it makes you stay in system a few minutes longer, makes you not pay attention to the FC, or even do stupid things.

The worst part about my rustyness, I tend not to write in here about my conquests. Last night wasn't much of a conquest verses, I got into a situation, that i knew nothing about...helping a friend defend a god forsaken POS...I don't know how to do such things. I will go about saying this. I don't give a flying leap about POS's...and I shant be defending one again.

They had one too many...

Somebody said the other day that Curse during Euro TZ can be a scary place and as a Euro member that got me thinking. In some ways they were right because we have feast or famine and we seem to flip between the hunters and the hunted.

From dowtime to early evening for us its all about the Russians who are in their prime play times. We can catch and kill the unwary or plain dumb one moving around through the pipe with a degree of ease. There are also the roaming gangs. Fortunately for us these Russians seem to be creatures of habit. 5.59pm the Out of Sight scout enters CL and warps to the K-Q gate 90 seconds later the armour heavy gang follows with their logistic ships. They enter K-Q, blow up any bubble anchored, rail a bit in local at the 2 or 3 online about the rigidity of our spine, declare the Op a success and move on.

After the Euros eat and the workshy USTZ wake up, we continue to gank the dumb and dodge the cyno Arazu or Rapiers from our latest group of Black Ops droppers (fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me) fight returning roaming gangs with our bolstered numbers or mooch about our locality.

As the evening draws to a close we are sometimes treated to the forty man Ares Protectiva procession. They seem to be looking for a fight but with 10 logistics they don't seem to find that many. A glimpse at their killboard shows that the big fleet doesn't get gudfights in Curse. Having said that we love Stephane Devaulx who has the heart of a lion and never backs down in his cane or myrmidon or more recently Cyno Arazu.

A4D in Curse in the Euro TZ is definitely interesting. We kill a lot of dumb people, get some good scraps, dodge some obvious bait and sometimes get out backsides handed to us on a platter. All in all it can be a violent and scary place. Whether you are the scared or the one doing the scaring can often be a function of the time of day. When it gets really interesting is when the attitude of the people you fly with allows you to achieve regardless of time or numbers.

So I have been out for on holiday…before that I was just too lazy to log in. This is the week that I actually log in and play. To be honest, I am a 75 kill a month player. I don’t have the time to invest in being a 150+ kill a month player. I could do it, but I would have to sit on a gate and anyone that knows me knows that I hate gate camping.

I am not holding it against anyone that does, I just don’t personally enjoy it. In fact, three of my best guys truly enjoy sitting on bubbles. I can listen to them kill for hours, but I dread participating. Personally I prefer 5 on 5 brawls…but I will do a Logistic gang or roam.

Last night was interesting, a couple of us volunteered to shoot a POCO…and to be honest, I don’t even know what the hell a POCO is, but someone said we may get a fight…so I ran. Unfortunately it never happened. They slung a few bombs at us, but I guess they weren’t into fighting.

I don’t like fighting that group anyway, they tend to fly with 9000+ ECM drones and a fist full of racial specific Scorpions. It’s actually rather douchey…. I am not saying I haven’t jammed the bejesus out of others before, its just not a staple in the A4D combat repertoire. Usually if we bring Falcons, its an alt.

On another note, I went away from game for five days and the corp. was self sufficient. I love this corp., I can go for a few days and it not implode.

It was nice getting to play again after being on Vacation for the past week or so. My trigger finger had been getting itchy and I simply needed to kill something. Our blue asked us for some backup and we sent a few guys over to help.

As per usual, by the time we arrive the fight was over and there wasn’t so much as a pod to kill. So we merged our gangs and warped to the RMOC gate. This is where it gets a bit weird. There was a small BC gang in RMOC jumping into our fleet. This group is blue to the group that our gang had just fought.

I think they got the memo late because they really didn’t know they were jumping into a gang twice as deadly as theirs. Our gang consisted of multiple scimitars and 12 battle cruisers. The numbers were lopsided in our favor, but we didn’t complain. Most of the time we engage that group we are outnumbered…it was refreshing. We ended up popping their Claymore and a Hurricane. The rest of their fleet bailed.

We were all dressed up and had no place to go so we decided to visit the Brushie Brushie Brushie guys in D87. Its not that we have anything against them…but they are always there and may have enough on hand to actually fight. We jumped into VOL-MI around the same time a AAA fleet jumped in. They had 5 Logistics and 50% more dps, so we decided not to bother with them. Wisely we took a pass.

Our scout jumped in to K-B to find there was no one in local. So we advanced to the D87 gate. There we jumped in a Drake(I know, obvious bait), after a few seconds he warped to the out gate, and we jumped in 3 more Drakes….also warping them to the out gate. You could tell in local that they were reshipping. They had went from frigates to bc and battleships.

Our bait gang was on our out gate and was 20AU away. As expected, they came in to fight, They brought a few BC and a Blaster Domi. Although our group was warp scramble challenged, we did manage to point the battleship and kill it…missing out on a few other kills. I had landed 25k away from a hurricane and had him locked, but was out of range. I clicked overheat as he warped out. DAMN IT.

Unfortunately we lost the drake before our Scimitars could rep him. We lost a T2 fitted Drake and killed a Dominix. Although the outcome was not necessarily what we wanted, the bait was well executed. None of us expected a high DPS Dominix with Neutron Blasters.

Thanks goes out to Eve Animal Control for letting us tag along. Those were some much needed kills.

Although I we have a no talking in local policy occasionally I have to remind people. So if you want a GF from me…not going to get it. I just don’t talk to people unless I know you…or at least I don’t smack talk. I have done it in the past and I ended up sounding like an idiot. So I just don’t do it.

The worst smackers in my opinion are the Sov holding alliances, they usually blob and then tell you about their awesomeness. Mostly it is the young players, but there are some older ones that do it also. Last night I was witness to such smack, it was a AAA gang that was in 5 Oniros, and God knows how many Oracles.

Last night we were going to join our EAC and fight them, but from the outset I didn’t like the match up. ECM drones, Sensor Damps, Gang Mods. I showed up, but the last couple times I was in a 20 on 20 gang like that I got smoked. I wasn’t on anyone’s watch list, I wasn’t the buddy of one of the Logi Pilots, and most of all I don’t know how to fight in blobs….I do small gang only.

Although I watched the fight, I didn’t have the right ship to engage. It went as expected. The good guys lost, the bad guys talked crap. Just some more fuel for the fire on why I despise alliances with all my being. That being said, alliances are for followers…I don’t follow.

I made it up early enough to head out on my morning mini roam. It’s just quick tour around Curse to see what trouble I can get into. My entire route is simple. I head toward RMOC, then to Hemin, Jorund, Doril, Utopia, Hemin, YKE, AAM, K-Q. It is a short and sweet route that yields me at least 1-2 targets per trip.

This time of day is mostly Russian players, everyone else in Europe is working. The Russian contingent is usually ready to pvp after they finish their daily identity fraud, hacking, scamming, or daily general exploitation of the Eula. Yes, I find in general that Russians are just one step above Somali Pirates.

So anyway, while I play lame duck waiting on this player…randomcrapbagRUS to engage me. And so the fight begins. My coercer of doom vs. his Thrasher of less doom. I could have warped off, but I wanted him in range, so I aligned until he finally has a point on me and starts to fire. I overheated and opened up with scorch. I hit armor about the time he hits 30% shields.

He starts to close range, so I switch to Multi-frequency…but he aligns and gets out to 11k, I have to switch back to Scorch. I start hitting him again on full overheat, and he warps with 10% shields. Even though I had 20% armor damage, that is where my ship starts to shine. No kill for me. I guess he had get back to his day job of fraud and identity theft.

Big smile

Balance

Earlier last week I had to defend our stand on 85% efficiency. While this number isn’t the best indicator of a good pilot it is all we have as a baseline number. In Basketball they want to know if people can play above the rim…which means jump really high. In American Football they want to know your 40 time…or how quick you can run 40 meters. In Hockey…hell I don’t know what Hockey players do.

These numbers are not everything there is to know about a player. The intangibles are the other half of the equation. Unfortunately, there is no baseline for intangibles…we need to rely on something…and that something is efficiency. To me a player with a 99% efficiency is just as bad as someone with 30% efficiency.

The 99%er never takes chances, and always wants someone to tell them what and how do something. The 30% takes too many chances and dies most of the time…in a nutshell either stupid or careless. A while back our magic number was an individual efficiency of 80%. This number on paper doesn’t sound too bad…but when it includes other gang members, the corp. efficiency suffers.

We found that the 80% on average made A4D’s efficiency overall around 70%. Since we pack hunt, if we fail…we all fail. So we decided to change the number to 85%. This number is incredibly easy to obtain, but in terms of the corp. efficiency, we are slaughtering everything. We found that if we have 1 or 2 players flying like idiots we all suffer. In efficiency and credibility.

Since this change in philosophy, we have went over 80% as a corp. two months straight for the first time since 2008, we have killed 1000 more ships this month than we did at any time prior to 2012. In essence we are a corp. of killers. We may not be the best, but not many corps have shot up 75 spots on Battleclinic in the last 6 months.

We are doing this by sheer volume of kills, we do not shoot POS’s(typically). We simply kill everyone we think we can kill. I am proud of this group and even more proud that I am the CEO. By the way…still holding at 94%. Not bad for a working schmuck that with limited time. Kills: 4670 Losses: 337 I may have as many kills as my buddies sc0rps or Svetlanna but I am working on it.
