I noticed this from a different thread, could this be true, are the largest corp in game just scammers ?

What about there Goonswarm Recruitment scam?

You'll be approached by a member of Goonswarm who will tell you that they're recruiting (Goonswarm don't recruit), and can get your ships ferried out to null sec for a small payment (only a few hundred million ISK). So you give them your ships and your money, and never see them again.

A variation of that scam is where someone claiming to represent Goonswarm will offer your alliance access to some area of null sec. "We're desperate for industrialists" they'll tell you, "rent this system off us, and we'll buy ships & ammo from you." They will of course require a downpayment to cover infrastructure costs, and then they'll meet you at the Torrinos gate in EC-P8R to escort you to your new home. Only they blow you up instead. You never see your ships or money again.

How dare you tarnish the good name of Goonswarm Federation, we all know they are honorable internet spaceship pilots.

Goon Alt detected.

All automated intel should be removed from the game including Instant local/jumps/kills/cynos for all systems/regions.Eve should report nothing like this to the client/3rd party software.Intel should not be force fed to players. Player skill and iniative should be the sources of intel.

This is not uncommon at all. Yes Goonswarm does this. It is nothing new. If you are approached by a Goon and asked to join their corp the smartest thing you can do is laugh at them and walk away.

Yes. In fact, I've even heard that they start pointless attention seeking threads with alts as well.

Whoa, in my early EVE days, the smallish corporation I was in was offered absorption into Goonswarm. The loyalty of our members at the time prevented us from doing so, but looking back, it seems that our loyalty saved our asses lol.

Now look at me!

As Lakshmi has pointed out the people at TEST Alliance Please Ignore are most honourable space knights and as such provide the brave & upstanding citizens of EVE with a detailed guide on how to detect dirty scamming scoundrels (as may be found in GSF):

check out this file for Enlightenment: http://wiki.pleaseignore.com/images/2/23/Nynjato's_Scamming_Lesson.ogg

(have to use url shortener to get around "bad BBCode" and "we were ganked" errors - if you don't trust me just copy & paste the url directly; I honestly recommend saving that file and listening to it)

edit: also check out this log for a practical demonstration of a master's skills: http://pastebin.com/ZUnt9vPn
read it, listen to the audio file above (skip Q&A if you are short on time) and read it again - you'll see how everything comes together.

Firstly this is not a Goons alt or any major allaince alt

Secondly, thier is a serious point here, Goons are a major allaince in this game and Im sure they must get many applications, now IF they are scamming ppl then chars do need to be warned

However if a few of the goons are scamming ppl without the leadership knowing then surely they also should be made aware of it

As the topic asks, do they really do this

Goonswarm Federation (and their member corporations) are some of the most upstanding groups in the game. They would *never* scam like that.

now you just make me feel stupid for posting a constructive reply....

goons themselves are warning you - in red, bolded italics:

https://auth.goonfleet.com/newbies/

(and seriously, just listen to the audio file above - especially the part about using your squad's alt corp to circumvent corp policies; TEST & Goonswarm federation policies and structures are often very similar; scam targets have actually been admitted into alt corps (inside the alliance they want to join) to ease them into jumping their carriers blindly into a gank)

PS: look at the date of this thread

Does that mean that site is actually the serious one?
