ships for lowsec/WH exploration

My good sirs and maybe madams of the forum assembly:

Which ships are decent choices for solo exploration, mainly hacking and archaeology? I'd be flying in deep lowsec or wormholes, so toughness and possibly stealth are high on my list.

I'm thinking HAC, Command Ships, maybe Force Recon?

Radar and mag sites are the hardest ones in wormholes, so let's table those as the considerations are utterly different.

For low sec mags/radars you'll want, ideally, a ship that can 1) warp cloaked, 2) use an expanded probe launcher (not critical as DSPs aren't as useful when you're hunting across multiple bands), 3) fight some easy ships, and 4) simultaneously mount an analyzer, codebreaker, and salvager.

The Pilgrim fits all criteria, probably better than any other single ship. T3s can also manage it and have the advantage of being able to refit for combat sites. If you drop (1) and (2), a Myrmidon works out.

Overall, a T3 is probably the best training goal for exploration due to their versatility.

Wait, what? Can T3s refit without docking? I've never even considered them so I've never researched them.

Thanks for the comprehensive analysis, though. I've always liked how the Pilgrim looked...

Nope, still have to dock, but you can effectively carry two entirely different purpose-built fits at all times -- which is what makes scanning/travel AND heavy combat viable from a single hull. Otherwise, you just don't see that combination.

Ok, thanks for the heads up. Now, another question about this:

What kind of ship and fitting would you suggest for these then?

For low sec and low sec only, an ishkur with a T1 cloak gets the job done, fit 2 scanning rig and let the drones do the killing,

Low sec archeo and hacking sites dont have anything big in terms of npcs, so T2 small drones can kill them pretty fast if you have decent drones skills,

warp to a safe, drop the probes, cloak, find sites, reacall probes, warp to site, kill npc with drones and use codebreaker/analyzer

rinse and repeat.

Main advantage of the ishkur is you can put all your modules needed on 1 ship and its a very cheap boat, so in case you get ganked, you loose nothing.

Someone mentionned the Pilgrim, its a viable choice as well, dont use a T3 in low sec explo unless you want to take the risk of loosing a 800 mill ships for a few millions worth site. That being said, some people do it , so your choice,

For WH, its completely different, prof sites are the hardest, and upto C2, you can use a drake for running them and for C3 you will need a T3 for running magneto or radar sites.

Keepp in mind that ideally you will want 2 ships, 1 alt in a covops that does find sites and WH entrance/exit and 1 dps ship that run the sites. also unless im mistaken, radar and mag sites despawn afte a few minutes if no one is in there once npc are dead.

If you will be satisfied with only radar and mag sites, then Pilgrim is the ship for you.
If you want to do combat sites as well (much better ISK), then Ishtar.
