Do I loose SP?

Example:

My character sheet says I have 70.9m SP. I'm training long skill for last 30 days, and I have 1m SP in 'escrow' (they are trained, but not added to my SP total until training finishes or I stop the skill).

My medical clone is good for 71m SP.

Do I loose SP if I get podded?

No you shouldn't.
But just in case, i'll update my clones in such a situation.

Why take the risk? Just update the clone and be done with it.

When I finally do make an impact on this universe, it will reverberate across the entirety of it, and no one will be able to truthfully claim they don't know me. - -

Until then, I'll just sit quietly over here, minding my own business...

you will need to update as soon as the skill completes. So just update now. unless you get podded several times a day. In which case you could save a few isk by waiting to update.
Personally I usually update a while before my skills hit the max for my clone. Just to be sure I do not forget.
Unless I am involved in a war then the extra isk can really add up if I am paying for a clone I do not need.

You would not lose those SP. The only points you could possibly lose are 5% of any uninsured SP. I think you might be wrong about "escrow" with those SP... I think they are trained, and they are yours... If I understand your post correctly.

i am pretty sure you will loose the 900k SPs in escrow as you are over 71 mil SPs its just not added at that point.

just because your skill sheet has not updated does not mean you wont loose any points
if you get podded then you will loose 5% of the (current SP [not what it says what it actually is] - 70Mil )

I have updated it of course, but I was curios what would happen, as I was in exact situation as I described in OP.
It was not really crucial for me to know definite answer, but thanks all of you for trying.

SP in escrow are not counted to total as far as i know, otherwise the clone menu would show you need the next teir clone.

Always leave a healthy buffer, it's just not worth the lost time in the event of a mishap. Your character's skill point count only updates once a week or so anyways, which adds to that.

It updates every time one of the following happens:

Training completes, training is paused, training is changed, death.

The game doesn't actively track your training progress, it just stores what you were training, and when you started it - and simply compares the current time vs. the started time in order to obtain the current progress. Same as EVEMon. The points counter only includes what has been 'written down'. Its the reason you need to pause the que while inserting implants, as otherwise the game would assume you've had them for the entire training duration.

So pausing and immediately resuming is useful to force a new 'started' time, which is also what actually causes a skillpoint update - because it has to write down your skill as partially trained, rather than untrained. - and this allows the counter to include it.
