Hello,

I am wondering what is considered to be the sweet spot for PI as far as profit / effort.

I assume that it requires 0.0 access due to tax reasons. Would you recommend doing P2 - P4 manufacturing or local P1 - P3 on a planet?

Just looking for some basic direction not trying to get all the trade sekrets.

from the rough calculations i did the other day:

make the stuff people need for fuel blocks, everything else usually simply isnt worth the issues or in a niche market that might result in sales problems

Oxygen, Coolant, Enriched Uranium, Mechanical Parts, Robotics, maybe also nanite repair paste, but that takes quite some work and calculations to set up, PI stuff is usually pretty easy to balance out so you dont swim in T1 products

I would suggest looking into robotics. Its a pretty common item used in a lot of manufacturing (including fuel blocks). You can make robotics on a single plasma planet (by switching your extractors and basic factories every 2 -4 days). I'm guessing the the single planet robotics is not the most profitable production item or setup out there, but it saves you a trip every few days of having to gather your resources, exporting / importing items (so saves you money there) and works pretty well for the lazy

Robotics have a Production profit of around 350.000 ISK/h per planet (20x processors P1-P3)
Rocket Fuel has a Production profit of 150.000 ISK/h per planet (3x processors Extraction R0-P2)

I consider any PI factory planet as heavy labor activity.(hauling, refiling LPs, much Market trading)

If you go for the profit/effort approach then I advise to extract and produce P2 on a single planet. Spending like 5x-7x less time and getting only 2x-3x less profit. This will leave you more time to do other industry or PvP/PvE activities.

R0-P2:
- produce P2 on the same planet
- chose the best item that can be done on that type of planet
- trough extensive testing I found out that 3x P2 processors and 2x3 P1 processors works best for this
- use 2x ECUs with 4-5 heads on each (needs 18.000 units/h extracting)

Note: Going for the most efficient setups bring only more work and problems with it. Try to go for an optimal setup.(general advice)

Also, the reasoning for PI in null is a bit off. Taxes are obviously a factor, but the main point behind null-sec PI is that your planets aren't dried up, thus allowing extractors to nomnomnom.

Try googling eveplanets (can't remember address, at work). on that website, each system and it's planets+ capabilities will be listed (search engine). Perfect for lazy people like myself, to not have to go from system to system. This way, you can guage however much you want to work for whatever levels of PI you want to produce. The income is going to fluctuate a lot, just a warning.

- look at market, see what sells
- make that
- sell it
- $$$

There is also the lazy method, setup a planet in such a way that you have it extract/process the material for the longest duration possible and reset when you remember (I usually do so before it's done, so it's continious and I'm forgetful about this). Definately not the best way to make money but if you wind up with a good isk/h ratio because after itnitial setup it takes all of a few minutes to reset it. And than a few minutes to collect assuming your close by. I made something like 20mil from 4 planets when I came back from not playing and I had to setup the planets to be especially ineffecient to store said materials. And this is with bad skills in PI.

PI information is well known and is easy to find out, it doesn't require the heavy guarding that other things require such as trading, market speculation, etc where advertising it can have a drastic effect on your market.
