The game does not recognise the discrete graphics processor on my laptop.

My laptop uses two videocards - Intel HD Graphics Family and NVidia GeForce 525M. There is only Intel display adapter in the display adapter drop box in the game options. Is there a solution to this?

My first reaction is to open up the hardware config in windows and disable the Intel one

On Windows 7 just right click the [Computer] in the Start Menu and then pick Properties

From the window that pops up the "Device Manager" should be top left.

From there you can find the display adapters and turn off the Intel one.

(Would highly recommend a reboot afterwards)

I tried this workaround but it didn't work unfortunately. I'm not a computer geek but as I see it there is no way to disable the Intel card as desktop depends on it. I have the latest drivers installed. Anyone else experiencing this issue? Does it have any influence on graphics processing in the game and graphic options available?

If you have a dedicated card then there is a problem with the system not using it. Onboard graphics should be disabled as soon as windows sees the more powerful card. Intel graphics suck. The Nvidia card should always be primary. Go back into device manager, find a device called intel graphics. Right click and disable the driver or remove it whatever works. That should force it to use the nvidia card. Also uninstall any intel graphics software that might be on the computer and install the Nvidia drivers only. There appears to be a conflict. The options are there, look harder. Force the inner geek out of you, that we will.

I use an Alienware M14x (with it's teeny tiny screen) to play EVE. I also had my config come up with the Intel Integrated graphics as the only choice. My solution was to go into "nVidia Control Panel" (right click on your desktop) and under "Manage 3D Settings" see if you can select EVE from the "Select a Program to Customize" list. If it IS there highlight it so it is centered in the window and in the window below it (Select the Preferred graphics Processor for this Program) select "High Performance nVidia Processor". If the game does NOT appear in the list, click the "add" button and direct it to "eve.exe", where you have the game installed.

Once you have the nVidia High Performance Processor selected you can manipulate the individual settings within the game from right here. I would suggest initially leaving antialiasing and anisotropic filtering set to "Use Global Setting - Application Controlled". If you DO already use antialiasing in-game, try setting the choice (within the nVidia panel) to one of the CSAA (i.e. 8X CSAA) choices for better performance without much sacrifice quality-wise if your card offers it. The game will still show the Intel Integrated Graphics as being used but ignore this. The nVidia card will take over once the EVE.exe file is kicked off.

My little laptop uses a GT555m 3 gb, which is a similar card to yours. It has an i-7 2670 w/ 8 gb 1600 DDR3 memory. I am able to basically set everything thing on max for the 1600 x 900 resolution the M14x displays natively. I've been playing around with HDR enabled and so far, so good...no stuttering or major loss in fps.

I hope this helps. I just started playing EVE tonight.

I have this problem with a lot of games. Aegis is correct; you need to go into the nvidia control panel and force EVE to use the dedicated GPU.

I've always had the same situation with my machine, where the intel family is all that shows up in the pull down in game. However, using a Geforce GPU meter on my sidebar and the little Nvidia GPU activity monitor I was able to determine pretty quickly that EVE was in fact using the GT555, not the integrated intel. I didn't even need to mess with the Nvidia control panel as my game was using the card all along. But just for the heck of it, I did the change that Aegis suggested and the game still doesn't show the Geforce as an option. But it is working.
