the point is it isn't nice to make such generalizations because there were probably other people in local as well
i for one would be hurt if called minmatar

i just locked an open door.. strange, yet symbolically compelling.

EvE Online is a cut throat gaming environment with evil individuals who will sell your mother to pilot their Tech3. You are getting offended over a derogatory word? Sure, it's widely inappropriate in Real Life, but with many games... There is a pvp solution.

If you don't like getting called names, teach them a lesson. Petitioning to get someone banned is not a legit strategy. It actually goes to show how weak you are.

If your skin isn't thick enough to shrug off such derogatory language, perhaps gaming in general is not for you. You will see this language everywhere. How you react to it is up to you.

Just hunt him down and pod him. Let him swear up and down because of that.

That's the beauty of EvE Online. Anything and Everything goes. The Game is player run. So run it.

It is a legitimate strategy and it is probably the most effective and efficient way to eliminate someone you don't want. By teaching them a lesson I assume you mean go blow them up. This not only puts your assets in danger but blowing someone up hardly does anything to them, they will be back with the same ship, same fitting (maybe even a more effective fitting customized to face your ship) after several minutes.

Having them banned via a petition involves no risk on your part and it will render them ineffective for the duration of the ban maybe even permanently. Using this golden opportunity won't make you weak, it makes you smart. PvP in EvE is more than just shooting each other with ships.

That's the beauty of EvE Online. Anything and Everything goes.

When you petition someone in EVE for unacceptable behavior, you pretty much never hear back from CCP of what action, if any, they took. This is because in a standard case disciplinary communication between the player and CCP is generally always a private matter. You are not entitled to know how many warnings or even temporary bans someone has had, unless they themselves choose to make this information public. (The Mittani case and a couple of other cases have been exceptions, because of the act having been so public to begin with.)

However, in general case you just get the standard petition answer of "thank you for bringing this into our attention..." and petition is then immediately closed. This does not mean CCP will not do anything. It means they have read your report. They will then investigate and take any action they deem necessary, but as you are not entitled to hear the result, there is no need for the petition to stay open. Getting that standard answer does not mean it was not useful to petition.

If they are already aware of some problem and have decided to work on it, they do not need further petitions on the same subject. They probably asked people to stop spamming them with those petitions so that they can work on the issue instead of closing and replying all the petitions.

There was an apology posted on twitter in response to this.

To the goons that means its OK over and done with, and they will of course leave him alone now.

Indeed, once an apology is given and remorse is shown, there's no reason to pursue things farther. Right? Right?

The best course of action in this situation is to file a complaint via petition for the offensive remarks. If they were actually made and not made up or faked.

Allow CCP to deal with the matter in accordance to their policies. If the individual in question did what is claimed then CCP will settle it.

This thread is not so much about what he said, but rather the unique response CCP has decided to take when there is no press involved in the incident.

The guy admitted to it, and to orchestrating getting Mittani removed by framing the issue.

Framing is far more important that people realize.

It wasn't that Mittani made an off color joke, it was that he was "encouraging CYBER-BULLYING". It wasn't that the guy is notorious among hulk-a-geddon participants for threatening suicide if you don't give him cash. Oh no, he was a pure innocent set upon by a CYBER BULLY.

By the same context, Goons failed to frame riverini's comments. They should have framed it as "White Supremacist EN24/7 Editor admits to framing the Mittani (some form of minority)."

First we can't Cyber Bully, then we can't kill people in high sec without getting blown up.....and now we cannot give the darker toned among us nickames. Somebody is taking all of the lovely sand out of the sandbox....

the real crime is if you mis spell this "n word", and replace the ER with A its ok

(only said N word cause of fear of ban)
