time to get rid of it

Theyre either too powerful or powerless depending on who you talk to, but Mittens has proven at least one thing through the year, the position of CSM is a liability for the company and should be let go.

Yeh maybe then well finally get Space Barbie online like we always wanted. We would have had it to if it wasnt for those meddling CSM. And the Mittani too.

They're only a liability when they interact with the public.

More like CCP is becoming a liability to itself. The CSM has done some great things as of late and has helped push back on behalf of the players.

The overall problem is CCP has delusions of grandeur that have not gone away and have only shifted form and intensified. CCP is hell-bent on trying to make EVE as big as possible and is willing to make deals with the devil (Sony) to attempt to facilitate this.

The problem with getting bigger is the CCP we all know will die with it, once a corporate entity passes a point of critical mass it tends to lose itself and ultimately will take the safest approach to it's business model.

Mark my words if CCP ever see's over a million users fan fest will be totally neutered along with griefing and other forms of the meta game. Once you get really big it's all about maintaining a otherwise stable and boring image to preserve the largest amount of customers and keep your legal department with their feet on their desk.

The advantage of a bad memory is that one can enjoy the same good things for the first time several times.

One will rarely err if extreme actions be ascribed to vanity, ordinary actions to habit, and mean actions to fear.

If fanfest proved anything its that CCP still have a lot learn about being a company.

How many other Companies would of allowed that slide about the Wiz?

How many other companies would of not put a delay on their live TV Stream, because you know, a bunch of kids who can't hold their alcohol (Michael Bolton here is looking at you) were never going to say anything that could get you intro trouble?

As much as people might want to blame the CSM, CCP also have to take responsibility over what happened.

Why take responsibility when you can just tie the whole thing around The Mittani's neck and hang him with it? Win in the goon-hating (majority) player's eyes, win in the over sensationalist tabloid gaming journalist's eyes, break-even in the eyes of Sony/Nvidia.

Great job guys!

Its good to see your argument is so without reason you can't argue with anyone on the merits of it.

Any spelling, grammatical and punctuation errors are because frankly, I don't care!!

This is technically true, but in their defense, this WAS the first Fanfest that had this kind of media attention. Naturally, they should have worried far more about the content they were presenting to the world, and in the future I'm sure they will.

Even then though, it took a godawful comment from a player with an uncountable amount of enemies in-game who would gladly use this to their advantage for any variety of reasons (from pragmatic reasons to simply '**** Mittens' reasons) to make this really blow up the way it did. If literally ANYONE else on the panel would have said something similar, the issue likely remains within the forums, assuming there would be an issue at all. That's just bad luck on CCP's part.

The biggest problem was how they handled the punishment, though. Waiting like they did and then throwing it down not even 2 hours after allowing Mittens and the CSM to come up with their own solution is the worst of both worlds, as it gave off the impression that the decision was due to external pressures (media, Sony, angry playerbase) rather than an actual violation of the rules (which should have merited a punishment pretty much immediately). That's a pretty dangerous message to send to a playerbase that exists on the edge of sanity and reason as it is.

Especially given that Mittans works at a gaming press site and can easily garner negative attention to the game (which he's done before) to get such punishments passed

Goons; infiltration at its best - first bob... now ccp itself. They dont realize you guys dot take this as "just a game". Bring it down guys, we're rooting for you.
