  • Donate 3+ Billion ISK to the capsuleer in question. Post proof of this donation.
  • Donate 5+ Billion ISK to the Ivy League alliance. They train new capsuleers how to play in Eve Online. It's fitting that you support one of the most important entities in New Eden considering the circumstances. Post proof of this donation.


You're currently subject to a 30 day ban. Personally that is not enough. Cyber-bullying is a real problem now-a-days and what you did was pure cyber-bullying. There is a difference between an in-game persona and real life. You took a game and made it into real life. I am deeply ashamed of you, Mittani. You've lost my respect over this and the CSM has lost some of my respect as well. I hope that the CSM can move beyond this and that a situation like this never happens again.

PS: To the capsuleer in question... if you're suffering from depression and/or suicidal thoughts then please seek some help. Don't let this incident get to you. And report ANY jerk who sends you an encouragement eve-mail.

one month ban?

Grow some CCP and make it hurt so the player base can see there are consequences for their actions with relation to EVE. Don't you think this is just a little more serious than avoiding CONCORD after a gank?? 3 months at a minimum would've been more appropriate. As for the CSM I'm pretty sure he can't be a member ever due the fact he's been banned; good thing too.

Amongst many here.. calling bull*** on that apology.

Every part of that apology can be thrown out the window by remembering that he is/was a lawyer, and that the slide in question was pre-prepared, it was not a drunk last minute addition, it was a purposeful vindictive act with the sole intention of getting a mass audience to laugh at some poor guys misfortune. He wasn't on the internet, he was at a conference with a clear goal before the first drink went past his lips. Suicide isn't a joking matter.

The only joke here is that he only got a 30 days ban, he should be looking at jail time. And the whole of Goons should have there entire network looked at by law enforcement to see how far out of game they take this sort of crap.

The slide was not a breach of the EULA and was scrutinised by CCP and allowed to proceed. The comments made in the impromptu Q and A session were in breach of the EULA and were judged by CCP.

as much as Id love to see it they cant. The havoc and hell Goons would create in the game as well as the bad press and PR damage IM BETTING Mittens would create himself oytside the game would force them to go all Helicity Boson and unban him. 30 day is probably all they could get away with. How sad is it that you cant even enforce justice in a game you created lol

As pertaining to the slide:

If I remember the CCP blog about the situation they washed their hands of it stating they failed to scrutinize some content or specifically his content. Can't remember the exact specifics. But it allows CCP to distance themselves in case of legal repercussions. Why would they want to do that? Hmmm?

The slide was a vehicle in the presentation to facilitate Mitanni's mocking of the guy who wrote it. It was included specifically to harass the guy, to make fun of the guy in the same manner that adolescents make fun of anyone they see as weak and defenseless. It's not like Mitanni was going to use it as a tool to discuss anti-bullying policies or the finer points of depression. There could only be one purpose which was exactly how Mittens used it.

There was clear intent to use that mail, which I assume Mittens had been keeping for a few days or a few weeks or a few months, for the sole purposes of a mockery at a minimum. At the least that's bullying. That Mittens solicited thousands of people to help him make the guy commit suicide.....that you can't see this, that you're attempting to separate the communication from the behavior is just sad.

So, the apology, stating drunkenness many times as the culprit, doesn't exactly work. Had a more tangible crime been committed, say a hypothetical assault and battery on someone, with previous communication from the victim in the perpetrator's pocket asking the perpetrator not to harm the victim....well....it would be a clear case of premeditation. No, the only reason drunkenness could be made to work as an excuse is that Mittens was too drunk to remember the proceedings were being recorded......that's the only fault it could be used to excuse.
