Why is it surprising?

She has years of community building and media involvement working for a company that leads the most successful Sci Fi MMO in the history of MMO gaming.

They probably paid better, and she probably found some of the recent decisions frustrating for her. I sure as hell found them frustrating... Evil

Her twitter says that she's working for Sony - so she might just be filling in some slots on the SW:TOR Tour

That picture must have been taken just before she made her "Help me Obi-Rodj Kenobi" message.

I wasn't going to play SW:TOR, but I might now.

You seem like you care an awful lot. I didn't even notice his sig until you freaked out.

No, I just find it sad that ppl are so shallow to spend money like that, Guess if ppl are willing then CCP will keep pushing it

He probably just spent ISK to buy that stuff, and is trolling you rather effectively by putting a real world cash value on it all.

R2 is lucky, indeed.

Talent will always move from one employer to another. Happens all of the time.

The relevant issue at-hand is CCP's competence at internal knowledge transfer to mitigate the loss of individual employees to other employers.

With so many EVE features left half-finished, the level of effort to re-educate a developer on a particular feature's code / architecture may actually make it cost-prohibitive to do any additional work on that feature.

Purely speculation on my part, but this may be one of the biggest roadblocks CCP faces when attempting to "fix the game" or revisit expansions released a few years back.

@ CCP: a dev blog on your version control, code documentation and knowledge transfer systems / methodology would be pretty cool for all of the development-minded subscribers out there.

And it's entirely possible she wanted to work in the US for a while. Moving to Iceland for a job is quite a big step.

Moved from GD to OOPE.

Stevils left the company because she wanted to return to England. She now works for Sony and PS3.

Before she left, her Carbon avatar looked so much like her I wondered if it was built around her.

Also, she left right after a thread in OOPE regarding the shaving of the 'ol sack - so my impression was she got a little tired of Planet Neckbeard and went to go live in a cave or something.

Anyway, good for her. It's always good to see people get into jobs and places they want. Wish everybody could accomplish that.
