Did Ore Locations Change?

When I first started my EVE adventure I only had to travel a few jumps, 4 at most, to an underutilized system that hosted an entire belt-structure of Plagioclase. After joining an corp/alliance, moving out to, and returning from Null-sec I decided to head back to this system to mine Good Ol' Plagioclase.... only to be dumbfounded as it was all disappeared, replaced by nothing more than Scorodite and Veldespar.....

Have they changed the system ores since I went to null-sec?

Some people use the same belt for a few months, then go elsewhere. If they empty the belt of a particular rock, it stays empty until its scheduled to refill/respawn. There may be someone who is using it regularly right now, and doing so shortly after DT, so the belt always seems empty.

Most likely it was recently all mined out and will slowly spawn back over time.

Generally single / small groups of miners will only mine out the high value ores and ignore the rest leaving entire systems with nothing but low value ores.

Other times when a large mining group (Corp / alliance ops) will mine out entire belts or entire systems. I've been in ops where we have mined out 20+ belts in a system in one ops, and normally will mine out all the pyro / kern in a system within just a few hours.

So yes its still "there" meaning it still spawns (has a chance of spawning) but others are beating you to the good stuff.

Like others have suggested, people are getting use to the idea of heading out to out-of-the-way systems far from trade hubs that have underutilized belts. When that happens, it's usually because ganks are becoming common enough for people to look for safety or because the population of Eve grown enough to force them to seek alternate sources of ore.
