Anyone seen any Japanese players yet?

CCP was making it look like we were going to face a whole tsunami of Japanese players with the localized client.

I checked out the new help-channel with 'them funny letters' but it seems like they are playing the game of who can go the longest without typing. I was kinda looking forward to those rude Russians having to deal with the Japanese in the same way the English-speaking people have to deal with the Russians spamming cyrillic all over the place.

Anyone seen any Japanese so far? Did they all get lost, went east past the Russians and are now stuck in Jove space?

You don't 'see' Japanese players. They're ninja. As such it would defeat the purpose should you ever see them.

Have to say, when I heard about this, and maybe I'm being a wee bit stereotypical here...but I can't see Eve as being a game the Japanese would "get into". Seems they need a lot more "flash" and perversion in order to have fun in MMO's Big smileShocked

I have it on good authority that Japanese players don't respect the play of round eyes.
The idea of it has them howling in their sake.

The same way I'm certain there are a lot of Russian players in EVE. Like a third of the ad-cans in empire are in cyrillic for example. There are also about 100 people in the Japanese help channel, but they just aren't saying anything.

Maybe they find that having two thirds of the spam cans in Empire written in English uncouth and don't need to lower themselves to spamming for corp members like that.

I 1v1ed a pilot in amarr the other day and when he lost he destructed his own pod.

They're there. They've always been there. You just can't see them...... ninjas. Actually living in Japan right now and the end of year EVE player party in Tokyo has been going on long before they localized the client. Don't think they really needed the localization to get by.

Have a Japanese friend in game. Their corp is doing great. Since I don't speak Japanese and he speaks English, i take his word for it.

Although, he was already playing Eve in an all Japanese Corporation prior to the release of the client. If you bought the client you got all kinds of free swagg, he was showing it off. It was nice, and made my UK buddies all jelly, so it was particularly nice.
