Trying to understand the tutorial

Hi all

I've been away from this game for several years, but decided to give it a go again.
Now, I would like to complete the tutorial first - but, this seems to be quite hard.

My agent is: Aura.

Part 1 of the tutorial is completed (Where I needed to fly to my ship, dock it, and picup an item). (Mission 1)
Part 2 seems impossible to me.

This is mission 2, where I need to fit a gun to my ship, and fit a small Shield Booster.
The tutorials tells me how to fit the gun and Shield booster, but that does not work.
I just get an error message saying I do not have the required skill.

So, here I am - stuck in the tutorial, part 2 :(

I am not supplied with the required book to learn the skill required to complete the tutorial.
I do not have the money to buy the book required.
I do now even know HOW to use the market, or skills - as this is later in the tutorial.

Is this really intended behavior?

I know I might be able to actually finish the mission, without my shieldbooster, but the fact that I cannot follow the tutorial really troubles me.
The tutorial was intended to teach me how to play, but that is impossible because I do not have the required resources (nor are they supplied through the tutorial)

No. Hit F12 and file a petition under Agent Mission in Progress.

If you take all the sand out of the box, only the cat poo will remain.

Ok, I've done that now.

In the mean time, I can say I asked for help in the in-game chat - and another player was kind enough to lend me the money to buy the book - along with helping me to train the skill.
(As the tutorial has not thought me yet)

Hi,

this is an old bug and its still not fixed ...
Every new player that starts in a station don't get the needed skill because CCP thinks that a player >have to< start incaptain's quarters. Only there you get some infos from Aura and she gives you the skillbook.

Please CCP : do fix this annoying bug and do not let new players left the game because of such things.

Glem,

Go to the tutorial list and look, there is probably the version of this particular tutorial tailored for your faction.

By default Aura might have given you the one that is tailored for another faction that use different modules to be fitted into the ship.

have a look.

That is how I solved this "problem". At the beginning I also was: WTF!

let us know :)

Did you check the cargohold of you ship or your station hangar? Some times they just drop stuff in there with out telling you.

Make sure you don't skip any of the other Aura tutorials that pop during the rest of the rookie missions either. Quite a few provide skill books or other minor items.

If what the OP says is correct, it should be petitioned, because something has gone drastically wrong.

The gun should fit because the racial weapon skill to fit it is one of those already trained by a new character.

The shield skillbook is given by Aura before you undock to find your ship, and I'm fairly sure that if the tutorial is running correctly you are prohibited from continuing until you have started training it.
