Recent events have brought me to post. I rarely post on the forums...I do read them quite often

One of the aspects of Eve Online that drew me in was the depth at which the "predator vs. prey" part of PvP was developed in a way that advertised and allowed "scams" "ganking" "piracy" etc....and that the world of Eve was a harsh world. Incredibly, I don't partake in these activities I am an industrialist....true to form I am posting with an alt (flames encouraged...but c'mon this is eve online)

I've played other games where I can be ganked, sure. But Eve, has for the most part offered a more complex pallet of scenario's at which the more skilled or creative "ganker", "scammer" "PvPer" etc can do his bidding on the hoards of weaklings like myself to gratify ego's or satisfy some "cheap thrill" that can be thought out in an infinite number of creative ways. Mind you...words I may use (like cheap) are not meant to lessen the value of what individuals experience with it....I am in full support of these endeavors...it makes the game more exiting.

But In recent days...I have seen statements and positions regarding the fanfest debacle that regurgitated my dislike for some "predators" that support their activities unintelligently, carelessly

The beauty of so many MMO's and EvE is that it allows you to be over the line in the game. To draft actions inside an imaginary space... that in the real world would land you in jail, even be considered "evil" are exercised...given a release. I understand it. It's a fantastic thing for people to have a place for people that might actually need that sort of release for excitement etc.....To some right now I am "preaching to the choir.

You do realize for many...it's kinda like therapy for egomaniacs

So on the Mittani incident.

Realize he was logged off ..."over the line."

He apologized..hopefully learned a bit..

(to keep that meglamaniacal behavior as a part of the game...and don't mess with the Mentally iLL... in game or out of game

The Wis foresaw the Mittani would win the CSM election by a large margin in the future, and knew how he would troll him at fanfest. He saw it coming. Realizing this awesome prediction, he then said "I am going to kill myself for this".

if true, he can (and absolutely should) report such to his local law enforcement and not the EVE forums via proxy or delegated sympathetic mouthpiece.

Hell no. I mean WTF to that? No wonder he was so reactive the other day. If these are the comments he is getting then, well, I don't know what to comment. Seriously. Feel really bad for the guy now.

OP, I agree. There are many games that do allow boost, but sometimes it can be ego's get too much of a boost. There is the common comment of it is just a game/eships. By nature however, it is the one game we can have the most connection to. We do not see an avatar regularily, which just shows as a picture. This more heightens the anonymity of eve. Combined with the involved social network in and out of game required, finalized with the involvement and excitement of risk of permanent in game loss, this is the game that most people will have the greatest psychological connection to.

People can deny it all they want. But if you play eve, it is more than internet spaceships. Building up an isk wallet or building a model boat, the primitive part of our brain reacts via endorphins and emotion. Because of that, eve can never really be "Just a game"

Proof or gtfo. If you just used that as a political prop without it being 100% verifiable you're a complete jerk.

And CCP is already taking some action.


Anyway, I'd rather assume it is genuine and be wrong than assume it was fake and be right.

If real life threats have been made ingame then the Mittani only has to inform his local police department.
Those then can contact CCP and CCP will work along by giving real life details to the authorities.

CCP has no legal means to prosecute people who use real life threats, but they are certainly able and willing to provide the propper authorities will all the information they have.
In no way EVER should CCP or a player be using other means of setting matters straight.

The whole Fanfest incident just proves once again that a damn lot of people aren't fit to handle these kind of things.
Most of the posts pro or anti Mittani were nothing but knuckle dragging primates, chestbeating like wild and hopping around on either side of the barricade.

Threatening someone in real life about something in a game only proves that you should stop gaming and start living.

Anyone disagreeing that Mittani did something wrong also disagrees with Mittani. He himself said he was wrong and he appologised for it.
He has been punished by CCP and all of you complainers at both sides are not the ones deciding how and when someone gets a temporary ban.
Mittani accepts the ban as it is. So should the rest.

Anyone complaining still like a little kid that he came off to easy.
Deal with it. Not everyone is as bloodthirsty and vindictive as you. Some people actually know when to move on and continue just playing the fricking game.

So why hasn't he reported it to law enforcement? Why is it Goons seem to think we'll believe them when they say stupid **** like this? How ******** are you guys, seriously?

yep....I agree here too. Goons..are well ...living up to their name?

Do you assume we haven't? GM already has taken action against the guy and I wouldn't be surprised if they're willing to turn over the guy's personal information to build a case against them assisting Mittani protecting his wife. Especially I know as a husband myself, Mittani is doing the same which I don't doubt.
