So I was in an anomly of our neighbours today cloaked. I followed someone from his POS to a anomly and somehow he warped off as soon as I landed there.
Im 100% sure I was cloaked all the time. It was like he knew I was there. No probes in space btw.

So my question is: How did he know i was there? Or was it pure coincedence?
Can the number of ships at an anomaly spawn more sleepers? (even tho i was cloaked)

Thanks in advance!

ps. already tried to google, but couldnt find it

Could have been a coincidence.

In anoms, I will often warp to zero, select a structure point and bookmark it, then warp out. I can then warp back to the anom much closer to the center of the action. Note - don't try this with an asteroid, you will often bounce off at high velocity.

Did you happen to notice what the player did next?

Yes, he warped to his POS and logged out.

I had the following situation happen once (and at least one other person had that same thing happen, but with more explosions as a result). I was killing some Sleepers at an anom dutifully spamming d-scan as always, knowing that of course I may very well not spot someone who wants to kill me until the moment they uncloak by me, taking a few precautions accordingly. Suddenly, the Sleepers stopped redboxing and started flashing yellow. CURIOUS! Then started moving in a direction kind of away from me as well. A little bit later I decided that something wasn't right and at that same moment a Proteus uncloaked near me. He was bad at bumping and I was already aligned and a click short of warping so no harm done (to me anyway) but it was definitely the case that the Sleepers seemed to have "seen" the cloaked ship and reacted to it as they would had it been uncloaked. I talked to the dude about what he saw later and he said that the Sleepers weren't flashing red or yellow (so cloaking worked normally in that sense), but he found it very odd that they stopped pewing me and changed direction toward him. Bug filed, but yeah, nothing. This was around January I think?

There were also bugs with cloaking before Crucible, I think sometime in the early summer. People saw stuff like their uncloaked alts just hanging on grid, but then hurrying to fix the problem on their alts' clients they saw that cloaks seemed to have been activated and working normally.

But there were other times I would just suddenly get a bad feeling about a situation and chose to trust my instincts and GTFO. It might have also been a coincidence. However, both of these are less likely than a cloaking bug, I think Sad If I were you I would convo the not-victim just in the interests of science and fixing bugs in EVE, asking him what he saw, as the logs probably show nothing...

If the proteus spawned right next to you, doesnt it mean he was on you for a long time? Meaning the strange behaviour settles in after a certain time?

Thanks for sharing your experience guys, Im hoping more people are willing to share theirs as well!

I can think of two situations where this occurs normally, without having to invoke bugs. Not enough info in your description to know if either applies.

1. Drones. Sleeper target switch, so if you have drones out, they will at times stop shooting you and go for the drones.

2. Range. If you're long-range kiting them you can get a situation where they will only be yellow-boxing you. i have only seen this when i am soling C5s, but then that's the only time I kite quite that far.

I am hoping to 'spawn' right beside someone running a sleeper site RSN ... once he clears the damn thing. Not planning anything magical, just slowboating to range, waiting, then uncloaking and tackling. Proteus can do that too.

Perhaps i missed stuff, but not sure y'all dealing with bugs or magic yet. Good luck.

I guess I am almost a 'vet' by now. Hopefully not too bitter and managing to help more than I hinder. I build and sell many things, including large collections of bookmarks.

What ship do you use for that out of Curiosity? Naga/some other sniper?

I use tengu, but it's not kiting in the normal sniping sense. Doubt much else would tank them solo.

If you draw them out to their bounce-point (applies to all except one frigate type it seems), and then exceed that, they often keep you locked and yellow boxed as they turn back towards home. if you head closer again they regain interest and start red boxing again. They will maintain an already established target lock on you at a greater range than they can establish a new lock it seems.
