If you are right, then CCP will have proven that the "cold, harsh, world of EvE" was a bad plan. Personally, I doubt it will come to that though, even though I don't agree either with some of CCP's stances on things. Player freedom isn't one of the things I disagree with, though.


How could a MMO design that lasted 14 years be "a bad plan".

Not entirely random actually. CCP removed a whole bunch of 'high-way' gates a couple of years ago. That was when Yulai was the most important hub in the game, but then it lost most of it's connections.

CCP somehow forgot to remove the Niarja-Kapuutenen gate as well. Jita was well positioned to take advantage of this, I think combined with the fact it was already accustomed to having a lot of traffic when NAGA was still operating from Niyabainen. There are some more reasons and I probably don't know them all, but it was hardly a random occurrence.

I suspect if the Goons manage to disrupt Jita for a month it will be enough to end Jita's dominance as a tradehub, likely handing the crown to Amarr, it's recent growth already a clear sign that people are looking for an alternative to Jita's crowd.

Goons can gank wherever they wish. CCP stopping it would just be...wrong.

However, OP, I wouldn't worry about it. Goons are already trying to back out of it as witnessed by how they treated the OP in this thread:

My bet, Goons will wimp out. They will do something, blow up a couple ships claim huge victory and go home. They will have alts post a few whining threads in the forum that they can point to and redicule. Everyone will look at the threads and say to themselves."Wow, I must have been lucky because I moved much stuff into Jita and nothing happened to me"

Wimping out is the best bet for Goons about Jita at this time

It speaks volumes. Yea, 2 isn't a good sample but they didn't say something like "DAMN RIGHT JITA WILL BURN!@ JUST YOU WATCH!"

Instead they talk about how people's impressions of them doesn't matter. That sure sounds like the beginning of an ass-covering.

Are you really going to allow this to happen?

Can you not see that goonswarm really is trying to ruin eve and not as darius johnson stated trying to ruin a players game. Cos ruining a players game, makes them wanna quite, hence ruining eve as a game and product...

I mean they have grown so big that they now pretty much can control eve in anyway they want... First Ice Miners, plus other stuff and now this...

not sure i want to play a game where one alliance can control a whole game, when they want and how they want with pretty much no consequence. They lose 100 hurricanes, so what..their trillions in the stupid amount of moon good they get just keeps the constant churn going.. They could do this everyday for a year and have no problem doing it...crazy aint it...


Not really, there is nothing from stopping you from forming a bigger group to counter them..

It's just that Whining is soooo much easier.

I don't care for Goons, but I think it's up to us to stop them, not CCP. I kind of toyed with the idea of getting a bunch of militia buddies together to form a Jita Defense Force of Glorious Tech 1 repping ships to randomly rep undocking or gate jumping freighters to thwart some of the ganks (on the theory that if just 1 or 2 of their tornadoes is late shooting we could get enough reps on it to keep em alive till concord does it's thing). don't know if it will work, but doing something is better than doing nothing and could be fun.

That, sir and/or madam, is how you play eve.

Dont undock a Jump Freighter
Dont undock a 'high-value' ship like a Machariel or even a T3.
Jita 4-4 is a parking lot, I'm looking forward to seeing it transformed into a graveyard.

The goons have zero impact on my day-to-day Eve experience. They're a series of amusing forum posts and news items to me.

Okay, here's how it's going to play out.

Goons are going to pile into Jita. Everybody else is going to be smart enough to either have bailed or else to stay in station. They'll peg a few dopey freighter pilots, spam local, cheer for Mittens' return, and then wander off back to nullsec to do their thing. A few people will get mad, Goon's losses will ultimately be insignificant, Jita will go back to normal the next day, and life will go on as it always does.
