One quote I read said something akin to: "...the film is highly derivative, as it appears to be trying to copy from so many other films of the same genre. What is interesting to realize is that all other films of the same genre owe their roots to the works of Edgar Rice Burroughs, the creator of the Barsoom series..."

One might say, therefore, that the measure of its success might be attributed to how unsuccessful it is. As without Edgar Rice Burroughs, you would not have the bulk of great films that we do today.

Don't believe me?

Riddle this: the highest rank of the Green Martians is 'Jedak'...

This is why I´m most happy that NASA is dead(or very well on it´s way).
That damn rover and his crappy webcam managed to singlehandedly destroy the last shreds of wonder people may have held for exploring other planets.

No funds - no chance to eff up and hinder human space travel even more.
Good riddance. X

What on earth are you talking about? Even though it is "just" rocks on mars, it is great to see it! Just the fact that we manage to send robotic cameras to another planet and get back video is pretty cool. And what wonder was really lost?

Disney bought Pixar because Disney's films were losing their magic. Guess it's time for them to buy a better marketing company as well. Ugh

Disney's film, singular. They only made one and then just traced it for all their other movies. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vh84g8rC2oA&feature=related

Is the movie pretty faithful to the Edgar Rice Burroughs books? Not that I've read them.... P Just hate it when they take a classic and Hollywoodize it. (Examples: Schwarzenegger Conan movies, Starship Troopers)

I'm still pissed about fight club. The sad thing is that it's actually relatively accurate for a hollywood remake, compared to how bad they usually mutilate the source material.
