Overview States is Useless

Currently when at war there is no way to set up the Overview to only show reds (that is War targets and Outlaws). This is do to the fact that the states tab only works on an 'And' statement system. Meaning that if someone is a WT and has no standings to you, they will not show up unless you have both Pilot is at war with your Corp/Alliance and Pilot has no standings. If you have just Pilot is at war then they will not show up.

This is a problem because in order to see them you also have to see everybody that surrounds you, causing your overview to be more full than you actually care for (i.e. Jita)

A simple fix to this would be to make it an 'Or' statement instead. That way if a pilot fits at least 1 of the criteria, he will show up on the overview. Allowing you to set your overview to only show the type of people you're looking for.

This is a must fix and I believe there was a point in time where it actually worked as such. Please make it so.

Yup, same issue when you try setting up a tab for just corp, alliance and fleet members.
It's a pain in the arse.

It's been like that for ages. If I recall correctly this was discussed a year back or so with CCP and they seem to believe that it works using "OR" and therefore is working as intended. :CCP:

Its always worked this way. It hasn't always been apparent that it does, but its been this way since standings arrived.

It could be fixed quite simply by removing "neutrals" from game. Rather than give everyone a default 0.00 standing to other players, CCP could make the default 0.01. That way you could remove the neutrals filter as everyone would have some standing to others.

It would require a little tweaking as to where blues actually appear as blues (eg make that 0.02 and above) but I don't think its rocket science.

I suspect the real problem is that every time CCP go near the standings systems something unexpected breaks and they're taking the "leave this mess well alone for now" approach.

Give corps you're at war with personal standings - Problem Solved.

We are required by our constitution to let the voters think they have a choice. That's democracy!

Othran,

What you suggested wouldn't actually work cause all the neutrals would just be under a different filter requiring you to select them. The closest thing you can do is set the standing for people you're at war with, but that shouldn't be necessary. And if I'm sitting on a base popping reds, then they're not necessarily at war with me. They could also be outlaws, and I have no way of knowing who all are outlaws so I can set the standings. I just wanna see people that fit the discriptions of outlaws or wartargets. If they happen to be nuetral standing to me, I don't care. I can shoot them and I want to.

So the standing is not the problem, it's in the code and they need to change the 'AND' function that controls the overview to an 'OR' function. If they're too lazy to do so I invite them to hire me and I'll weed thru the code and figure it out for them.

They might as well revamp local so one can set it to only show people with specific standings towards you. Big smile

Make multiple tabs for your overview, you can have up to five I think.

Then set them up for specific things, or states. I have a tab that shows all ships, everyone on grid. It's not much use in a brawl but it is nice when I am flying around. I have another tab that only shows people who are hostile to me, i.e., nuetrals and below and nobody that is in my corporation, alliance or fleet.

I don't try to make Eve do things the way I think they should be done. I figure out how Eve works enough to do whatever I have to do to get them done.

Donima, the point is that neutrals are "neutral" simply because they have no standings - or to be more precise because they have a standing of 0.00.

Its probably simpler to give everyone a non-zero standing than it is to implement OR/NOT/NAND etc on the overview.

Its been mildly annoying for years - and the suggestion about multiple tabs isn't really all that helpful.

Like most people who have done PvP I have loads of tab profiles, but I have to retain one which I call "Sanity Check" (has everything on it) simply to get around this issue. It'd be nice to use that tab for something else without having to load a new profile on it.

I would help you with this. But since we're currently at war, I don't think it would be in my or my alliance's best interest to help you unfuck your overview.

To prove a point, my blue only overview shows only blues and not neutrals or reds, even if they are GCC flashy red. So I don't see why you can't do it to show only reds and not neutrals.

I wish we could define our own overview logic rather than having the status quo overview misery.

Soldarius, Blue is not the problem. That's easy cause usually blue means they have a standing set. The only way it could be a problem is if you wanted to see alliance members, but some alliance members are neutral. Then you'd have to show all neutrals aswell.

Same as when wanting to see WT's. If I'm in highsec I want to see WT's and Outlaws. It's easy to set WT corps to red so not really a problem there. But an outlaw is also red and I want to take some shots at them aswell... not so easy cause they're probly neutral to me. Meaning once again I have to show everyone. When you're in Jita, that's a lot of **** to scroll thru and hope that doesn't reorginize and you accidently target a non outlaw. So yeah, it is still a problem
