So let me get this straight OP... He didn't act in the same way you did when you were depressed, therefore he is lying? You really don't see any tremendous gaps in your reasoning there?

Was he wrong for writing about his depression? Yes, but nothing he did was against the EULA.

Was The Mittani wrong for doing what he did at fanfest? Yes, and unfortunately what he did was very much against the EULA.

Damn This game is really full of jackass like OP. It's not a matter of "did the Wis lie or not". It's a matter of should you take the risk to see if it is a lie or not.

Next time open a ticket saying that someone said they'd suicide, it's logged. 1 hour later the cops will go knock at their door to check on them.

Don't jock with suicides, just don't. And CCP didn't have any other choice than do what they did, it's a company and people there still need to work for a normal living.

I dont even know who to believe at this point...

Bottom line is: while using depression as a shield against attacks in an internet spaceship game is a cheap trick, it's nowhere near as bad as publicly humiliating a depressed person. From personal experience I can tell you that much less than that is enough to trigger / worsen an episode of depression which can be dangerous on many levels.

It really isn't something to be ****** with.

As for OP saying that depressed people keep it to themselves... That just isn't true. Many people talk about suicide or at least their depression before they actually attempt to kill themselves.

Even if you don't have any reason to think someone is depressed, is it worth it to humiliate them like that? Doing that is like throwing peanut butter at people you dont know. Most of them will be fine, not a scratch on them, while that one person with a severe peanut allergy will collapse.
Probably shouldn't use that comparison since I dont know anything about allergies but yeah. Depressed people can't just move on after something like that.

In case you're actually telling the truth about your own status, I'm sorry you have to deal with those problems. But you can't expect anything you or Goons say about this issue to be taken as anything more than whining.

Mittani knew better than to do what he did at fanfest. You should know better than to do what you're doing now.

The Wis is not the one who made the statements at Fanfest. It's not up to the crowd or the game's fans to figure out whether or not he was telling the truth in his eve mail. The point of the rules is that you don't hold somebody up to public ridicule as Mittani did. None of the other issues make a difference. Mittani was the head of CSM at the time he did this really stupid thing. Mittani brought this eve mail and this player out of obscurity to ridicule him publicly. Mental illness has nothing to do with the wrong that was committed. This would have been just as wrong without any of the other talk.

You guys are completely incapable of admitting Mittani's error or your own. Too bad for you. He had a higher standard of behavior to meet than an ordinary player because he was head of the CSM. He failed to meet it. He deserves the punishment, he has said so himself.

To claim the Wis was manipulating anybody is ridiculous. He sent his eve mail to one source and it got forwarded over and over again because you and your kind found it delicious. He is not responsible for making it public. Mittani is.

I hope you get better from your problems. I won't say anything else except that you need to face facts here. You are in fact blaming the person who is really blameless.

But be assured you and your super alliance can wreak your in-game vengeance on him now.

I'm not going to read the whole thread, I'm just going to address your OP.

In my 19 years in a hospital I've carried enough people to the morgue from suicide (10 - 15+?) along with several hundred others that I never joke about Suicidal Ideation, attempts or major depression.

Whether *YOU* or *THE WIS* suffer from depression or not is irrelevant.

What The Mittani did was over the line.

Period. Full stop.

I read his apology and accepted it.

I can believe that "Alex G" was sorry for what he did. Because of who he is *in game* and what his corp/alliance/cadre/group whatever have become known for and the reputation *they* cultivate in game and out contributed to the reaction he got.

Are people using this to "score points"? I would bet yes.

Does that change him going over the line?

Not one iota.

If you are depressed, get help.

Don't get so wrapped up in the game that you come to the defense of the indefensible...
