Why it could only end like this

Yes i know there are so many threads about this already, and this has already been said by me and others, but i think this should said as an OP so others can find it and read it easily. And i also understand that this is going to be long, but people should read this

No there is no TL;DR

This has to happen like this there was only one way that this could have ended and all you need to do is sit down, stop waving your arms and accept it.

The Mittani

The Mittani is a widely hated character across the eve universe, this is not by accident nor is this because he was made out to be like this from an outside source. This is a construct of his own making, he wants to be hated and loathed because that is what The Mittani is and not a shred less. This doesn't mean he has any less right to play the game even if we, and myself included, very much disagree with how he plays this game.

His actions have greatly bettered the universe we play in, and added so much colour to it. But those actions have also created this problem, in his attempt to to "ruin our game" he has angered many people. By attacking those that cannot truly get retribution or feel that they cannot strike back he has created a group of people that crave his downfall and without any avenue to do this they wait for a moment when they can hit back and do the harm they crave.

The Blunder

Was it because of the booze, was it because of his ego, or was it all part of some plan that caused him to say those ill fated words, in the end it doesn't matter because of where it was done. It was a live airing at a major press event with thousands of people, reporters, stockholders, players, and more importantly goon haters watching. Even by his own admissions he knows what was said was wrong.

The Mittani wrote:
I feel absolutely ashamed of my behavior at the Alliance Panel.

and because it was in that environment, regardless of the fact that far worse has been said before elsewhere, it is why this was doomed from the start.

Those that hate him now has been given all the weapons they need to brake the man down, and this in itself what makes EvE the game we love to play, the butterfly effect. and everything that has happened after is because, and this is the most important part, of who he is and what he has done.

CCP's Punishment

CCP's punishment is 100% correct and in fact the best thing they can possibly do in this situation, but before you people go crazy let me explain remembering that the "victim" or his mental state doesn't matter in the slightest.

Once CCP was forced to pass down a verdict they could only do what is outlined explicitly in their TOS/EULA. The Mittani urged , joking or not, thousands of players to use CCP resources to locate, players search, and harass, eve mail, another player. then gave them all the information needed to do this wile making sure there was no mistakes by taking the time to spell out his name. This is clearly a violation of the TOS/EULA.

TOS Section 1[u wrote:
]You may not abuse, harass or threaten another player[/u] or authorized representative of CCP, including customer service personnel and volunteers. This includes, but is not limited to: petitioning with false information in an attempt to gain from it or have someone else suffer from it; sending excessive e-mails, EVE-mails or petitions; obstructing CCP Employees from doing their jobs; refusal to follow the instructions of a CCP Employee; or implying favoritism by a CCP Employee.

With this being forced upon CCP they had to act, and their only recourse was was temp-ban him. This punishment was decided long before The Mittani came to eve and will be around long after he is gone. And with the ban in place it also removed his right to be on the CSM as well.

CSM Candidate Eligibility wrote:
Candidates are expected to be active on the CSM forums and participate in the discussion of topics. They are also expected to adhere to the EULA/TOS and carry themselves in a manner that sets an example for other players to follow. In addition, they must be willing and able to travel to Iceland once during their term for a direct meeting with the CCP Council. Should a Representative be unable to attend this meeting, an Alternate will attend in his or her place. Transportation to and from Iceland, plus lodging, lunch, and dinner will be provided by CCP. Candidates are responsible for all other expenses incurred during the trip. Elected Representatives and Alternates are required to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) before commencing their term.

If a candidate is unable to fulfill these requirements, the candidate with the next highest vote tally will be given their position. This process will continue until there are a total of nine Representatives and five Alternates.

Those 10,000 votes are lost because these are the rules were also set in place long before The Mittani was elected into it, this is just how it has to be.

The Conclusion

As much as people don't want to admit it, this is how it could only end up. The Mittani spent his eve life pissing people off, and he wouldn't want it it any other way, but in the last week he gave those people who want to bring him down the tools they needed. This is the sword he must fall on and twist around, a sword of his own making.

Dont blame CCP, they are just doing what they have to do after being forced to follow their own rules. Blame the people that forced CCP to do this and blame The Mittani and The Goons for giving them everything they needed to do it.

I supposed its easy to convince yourself that a PR nightmare created by a series of poor decisions was innevitable. It saves one from having to approach the situation in a logical way.

The easy solution would have run down like this:

Mittani: Herpaderpa derpa doo.
CCP: Cut that **** out or we'll ******* crucify you. You won't be warned again.
Everyone: Line in the sand, everyone go home.

Great post except for one thing. I see some seeds of martyrdom being sewn when you suggest his fanfest comments were orchestrated. This isn't the bob downfall, and no credit is deserved here.

that wouldn't have fixed anything. the people that want to crucify him would have continued to drag the game down.

They would have pulled more bad press and would rightly call CCP out for not following their own rules. the people that want to take out The Mittani are not a small group of people, and they can and would make a massive stink for a very long time.

At which point all CCP has to do is own their ****. "We put him on stage, we provided him with alchohol, it was a mistake. If he does it again, his ass is grass."

Bam. CCP is forgiving but stern, setting a clear precedent and facilitating harsher punishment, perhaps even a permaban, if the line is crossed again.

I so wish all you wise people would give up on this notion that yours is the thread that is going to explain this problem to everybody. This all sounds like very well meaning hogwash.

Your OP screams 'guys guys I want my own Mittani thread too'

Denial, such a delicious word. Mittens own doing, blame culture will only make his or his supporters lack of culpabilty deride him further due to his RL actions regarding harrassment.

Otherwise some people simply hate his arrogance and idiocy, cause he's a "f'ing wizard" d1ck.

Hope this helps clears things up.
