why a cap booster?

Yes, and if something manages to land a short range scrambler on you to shut down your MWD then you're not going to be able to escape, so why not also fit an AB to counter that? Or how about fitting an ECCM in case somebody shows up with a falcon?

Alternatively, you could stop preparing for every possible eventuality and fit for what you do best.

He is right about the cap booster. It is invaluable. I personally don't bother with tracking disruptors on my curse. Fit it for neuting with 2 medium neuts, 2 small neuts, and a medium nos. Medium nos means I don't need to use my cap boosters all the time, which gives me about an hour of sustained fighting, which, back in the day, actually happened. Don't use 800s of any flavor as 400s are more than enough.
