Some people want to carry the issue too far though, and really should back way from the adrenalin high. Exhibiting the same behavior you profess to abhor tends to turn popular opinion against you after a while. Blink

It's amazing how quickly the sheep acquire a taste for wolf.

Finding solace in another's misfortune, screw ups (even if many of his followers can't seem to comprehend the simplicity of why what he did was wrong) loses one the high ground awful quickly. This is how new internet space ship bullies are made, they see the first bully go down and then realize they like the feel of tear harvesting as well.

It's sad really. Can we let it go and get on with what sounds like an awesome Jita dance party? It's a dance party the goons are throwing right?

Mittens never harassed because that is not how the goon mindset goes, he has however mocked people on countless occasions and so I present you with the following challenge: do you know the difference between mocking and harassing?

See, the problem that Alex "The Mittani" was complaining about is not in fact what YOU are doing. And please remember that these news services that are getting the facts totally wrong are not talking about "The Mittani". They are talking about the person BEHIND The Mittani. That is to say that they are talking about Alex.

And that's why what you are doing disgusts me. You aren't feeding on the tears of "The Mittani" and encouraging his in game harassment. You are encouraging his OUT OF GAME harassment and defamation. You've thoroughly stepped outside of the "Magic Circle" and have confused what is real with what is in game (and thus not real).

What I find interesting is that in the articles the Mittani has linked too, most of them (barring Liang's and one more) seem to state as a fact that no-one was complaining until a couple of days afterwards.

Yet, I distinctly remember seeing threads crop up near the end of the live feed and certainly shortly after that were full of complaints, granted, most were just pointing out how poor the Alliance panel was (barring the WH guys), but a few people piped up there and then about Mittens saying what he said.

I wonder how many people are just reguritating other blogs or running off hearsay rather than actually reading these forums.

Oh, it was boiling on the Forums all weekend.

The gaming sites picked it up starting Monday once people were sobered-up enough to alert them properly.

I don't like The Mittani. I don't like goons. Neither of these things should be relevant.

Owning up to his mistake and accepting the consequences has been admirable. It shouldn't be surprising that sensationalist media is sensationalist or that players are using this as an outlet for anti-goon rage but at least give the guy some respect for trying to do the right thing.
