Dumbing Down the Game

Is it just me?

I have been playing eve since 2003 and loved it to bit until recently. Now I have come to loath it.

Recently we have seen a new launcher - basically doing what the competition does

We have seen ship mods renamed - making them easier for the thicker people out there to understand

We have seen more commercialism with the option to purchase clothes for Captains Quarters - which imo is rubbish and an over use of system resources to run

Where is CCP going with the game?

We had a game that was different. It was complex and fun. That is slowly being eroded by so called game improvements, which quite frankly were not required. The game did not need a new launcher; it did not require missiles and mods to be renamed for the f**kwits fraternity out there. It did not need a new menu interface etc etc.

Is it just me or is the game going to hell?

Welcome to 1 year ago discussion. Recommend you look up cruicible, the mission statements for ccp and reparation of most of the issues you have mentioned.

Prelauncher, that is a purpose of function. Allows updating etc before loading the client and part of a broader scope announced at fanfest to bring more of eve function to have out of game action.

Is the game going to hell? Yes, only because we want a game where it can be hell. The next expansion is called Inferno after all.

Your post is dumbing down everybody that reads it. I read all of the first sentence before I stopped because I could swear I heard several of my own cells cry out in horror.

None of these things have a thing to do with gameplay.

YES, it IS you.

Yep ccp keeps fing it up...

Links on the launcher still go no where...

it looks ********

Mod names just everything...

ccp ooooo lets redo rookie ships! yep that was really worth the time lol

I wish ccp would do what the comp does...

1 patch THAT WORKS and does not need 30 patchs and 10 server reboots afterwards...

Been playing WoT since beta... the damn beta had less bugs rofl... they put out huge 800mb patches with new maps, graphics, effects, tank trees... and then OMG maybe 1 small patch to fix anything... MAYBE...

they just put out a small patch ready for this.

TO ADD CLAN LOGOS ON TANKS...

WUT how long we waiting in eve for this? WoT... boom already got it...

Then again I can't walk around and dress my tankers... I'm missing so much =(

Even for those of us with a higher IQ some of the modules names were kinda annoying.

Torp launchers not actually being called torp launcher always irked me.

The Implant name changes are AWESOME. I am very well resourceful enough to find implants before the change but it was taking a bit more effort then it really needed to.

While I'd agree that some of the old module names were iconic and it's a little annoying to get used to the changes they are much better for usability, no matter how "dumb" or smart you are.

I'd also like to ask how visual effects are in anyway dumbing down the game? Or you mean the renaming of the missile launchers? Well the one with the assault launchers was a good move. I understood how they worked just fine, but as a guy that is hanging out in help channels quiet a bit it's always kinda annoying to have to explain how the un-intuitiveness of the naming conventions worked; that's the big reason for a lot of the name changes.

Yes, and what's more, everything was better in 2003. I liked the computers better. The phones were not so complicated. My credit cards had lower balances. People were nicer to each other. The cars were easier to drive. When I wanted a beer I just hollered for my wife to bring it, now she gets an attitude. Everything was better in the past, everything.

Seriously. Maybe it's time for you 2003 players to move on so the game can change without so much noise.

Change is bad. Change is always bad. Down with change.

The original designations were thought up whilst downing too too much VODKA one Icelandic Winter in the early 2000's.

For myself, I am glad for the launcher changes. Looked in the vid about it, they are renamed. Torpedo launcher is torpedo launcher, but even moreso, the assault launcher is now rapid fire light missile launcher. When I taught new players missiles, everybody always asked which assault launchers (heavy or not heavy). And of course had to explain ammunition. Using frigate missiles in a cruiser hull. Assault launchers don't use assault missiles, etc.

It is just you.

It wasn't smart to begin with it didn't have a purpose EG: naming scheme. They just made up a lot of names... That's not smart thats just filling in a blank, furthermore you're not smart if all you did was "grow up" with said naming scheme.

A torpedo launcher now being called a ******* torpedo launcher... Is actually quite rational and therefore smart.

Please tell me what actual mechanics of the game are so drastically different that a room full helmet wearing monkies can play now? last I checked the formulas for combat, invention, manufacturing, and a whole lot of other **** are still quite complex.

So once again change does not == dumb, rather you freaking out about change...
