Hello guys, as you may know from my other thread, I'm looking into some PvP options on what is essentially a newbie character. I'm really liking the idea of the Taranis. (Reasonably fast, hardy, options, looks like a deformed creature, etc.) I'm however a bit unsure about the fitting options I have, and I was hoping I could get some advice here.

With my skills finishing in a few days that will allow me to use AHobgoblins II, I'm really looking into the Taranis now. I've been suggested the following two possible fits:

[Dual Prop]
Micro Auxiliary Power Core II
Magnetic Field Stabilizer II
Damage Control II
Faint Epsilon Warp Scrambler I
1MN Afterburner II
Limited 1MN MicroWarpdrive I

Light Neutron Blaster II,Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge S
Light Neutron Blaster II,Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge S
Light Neutron Blaster II,Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge S
Small Hybrid Burst Aerator I
Small Hybrid Collision Accelerator I
[ABWeb]
Micro Auxiliary Power Core II
Magnetic Field Stabilizer II
Damage Control II
Faint Epsilon Warp Scrambler I
'Langour' Drive Disruptor I
1MN Afterburner II

Light Neutron Blaster II,Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge S
Light Neutron Blaster II,Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge S
Light Neutron Blaster II,Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge S
Small Hybrid Burst Aerator I
Small Hybrid Collision Accelerator I

And a railgun variation:

[Taranis, PVP]
Damage Control II
Magnetic Field Stabilizer II
Magnetic Field Stabilizer II

J5b Phased Prototype Warp Scrambler I
Stasis Webifier II
Experimental 1MN Afterburner I

75mm Gatling Rail II, Caldari Navy Uranium Charge S
75mm Gatling Rail II, Caldari Navy Uranium Charge S
75mm Gatling Rail II, Caldari Navy Uranium Charge S
[empty high slot]

Small Polycarbon Engine Housing I
Small Polycarbon Engine Housing I

I'm not sure which one would be the best for me though. I mostly roam in low-sec, and from what I hear Dual-Prop is primarily used for nullsec (to outrun bubbles I guess?) or in gangs. Is this true? And in that case, would I be better suited by using an AB/Web/Scram combination of the first fit instead?

Thanks in advance,
Dave

You should first decide what do you want to kill with it and if it is in fleet or solo.

I was primarily thinking of going after Frigate and Cruiser hulls in a solo-fit for low-sec. I'm using the dual-prop for interception action in fleet/gang PvP.

For fleet interception you should use an Ares but if you must have Taranis then:

[Taranis, New Setup 1]
Damage Control II
Overdrive Injector System II
Overdrive Injector System II

1MN MicroWarpdrive II
Warp Disruptor II
Fleeting Propulsion Inhibitor I

150mm Railgun II, Spike S
150mm Railgun II, Spike S
150mm Railgun II, Spike S
[empty high slot]

Small Ancillary Current Router I
Small Capacitor Control Circuit I

Hobgoblin II x2

I suppose 100% fleet dedicated could drop the web for injector to last for longer like so:

[Taranis, New Setup 1]
Damage Control II
Overdrive Injector System II
Overdrive Injector System II

1MN MicroWarpdrive II
Warp Disruptor II
Small Electrochemical Capacitor Booster I, Cap Booster 200

150mm Railgun II, Spike S
125mm Railgun II, Spike S
125mm Railgun II, Spike S
[empty high slot]

Small Ancillary Current Router I
Small Capacitor Control Circuit I

Hobgoblin II x2

Both ar 4500 m/s and about 100+ dps at the range of the disruptor....

Ares on the other hand is faster and stable cap with web (but half the dps) :

[Ares, New Setup 1]
Pseudoelectron Containment Field I
Micro Auxiliary Power Core II
Overdrive Injector System II
Overdrive Injector System II

Warp Disruptor II
1MN MicroWarpdrive II
Fleeting Propulsion Inhibitor I

150mm Railgun II, Spike S
150mm Railgun II, Spike S
'Arbalest' Standard Missile Launcher, Caldari Navy Nova Light Missile

Small Capacitor Control Circuit I

ew gross you don't put ccc's on an interceptor ffs

[Ares, Fleet Tackle]
Overdrive Injector System II
Overdrive Injector System II
Damage Control II
Signal Amplifier II

Limited 1MN MicroWarpdrive I
Warp Disruptor II
Warp Scrambler II

125mm Railgun II, Caldari Navy Iron Charge S
125mm Railgun II, Caldari Navy Iron Charge S
[empty high slot]

Small Polycarbon Engine Housing I
Small Targeting System Subcontroller I

cap stable with point and mwd, that's all you need

Dual prop fit Taranis is doable for low sec. It's nice to have that extra speed burst when all you have to catch targets is a warp scrambler. In fleets and small gangs it doesn't matter so much, as long as you are not supposed to be the fastest ship in fleet.
