Ishkur v. Purifier Question

I was cloaked in a .9 system. The ship was equipt with torpedoes, a DCU, warp scrambler, MWD, cap booster, and two Tech II BCs. When an Ishkur arrived and flipped my corp mates jet-can, I uncloaked, locked, fired, and was dead in about five seconds Oops. All the skills that I needed to fly and equip the Purifier are at Level 5.

I am guessing that a Purifier is not a good ship to fight an Ishkur with? Is it only good for larger ships? What should one use against an Ishkur? I am branching out into PvP, and I learned a lesson, but what exactly is that lesson?

Thank you! Big smile

I'm not a pvp expert but you were flying a stealth bomber with no tank against a frigate. Torpedoes don't do much damage to frigate size targets. I would use an assault frigate but like I said I'm not a pvp expert so maybe another person would have a better suggestions.

Stealthbombers should not be used against players in anything smaller than a BC (Except in the very rare case where a cruiser is MWDing). Interceptors seem to be a good bet, or recons if you wish to remain mostly cloaky.

What was said. Also, don't get into scram range, or waste a slot on dc to double that paper hull.

It would seem that you have little to no experience with bombers. Here is a list of basic pointers:

1. Look at your ammo. Torpedoes have a HUGE explosion radius (480m with perfect skills) so shooting a ship that has a sig radius of about 40 is a bad idea.

2. Look at the enemy you are shooting at. A t2 heavily armor tanked and high resist frigate. Not only is your EM torp going to do no damage to his armor tank, but he also has a super low sig radius- and can move quickly. These three factors will bring your dps down to about 5-10.

3. Light drones eat bombers alive. It just so happens that an ishkur can carry them

4. Fitting a scram on your bomber is pure suicide. You need a long point.

5. A bomber is a frigate with the agility of a cow. Considering that you did not have 1 agility mod- and a micro warp drive you wre a sitting duck.

6. If you have any more questions feel free to PM me- or check my blog.

My blog is filled with all things stealth bomber, and I go over a number of stealth bomber talking points in my 'blueprint' series.

Thank you all! Big smile

It is unfortunate that my ship had three Domination siege launchers, and a Tech II Bay Loader, but there we are. A hard lesson, true, but an experience I will now never repeat.

I will certainly read your blog, Chessur. I am very good at missions, but I am almost entirely ignorant of the ways of PvP and bombers.

Absolutely do it. It's a fine read. Even if the 10mn AB fits are a little insane....

Ouch!... I would advise against fitting such expensive modules on a paper thin ship. Someone might just suicide gank you just in the chance of one of those launchers dropping.

. . . Are you nuts? Stealthbombers are the biggest glass cannons in the entire game. Faction Mods and T2 rigs?

There are cheaper and better ways - an Arazu for instance works very well in this kind of situation.

I think a lot of people have already pointed out the flaws in your original strategy as well as the generally bad idea of fitting very expensive mods on not very expensive ships.

If you are interested in pursuing PvP i suggest entering one of the Faction War militias with a good corp willing to teach you, or joining Rev Vs. Blue / EvE Uni and having them teach you the basics. Unfortunately EVE has no user manual, and unlike most other games it's not simply "I"m in a higher tear ship therefore I win". EVE is Rock, Paper, Scissors in space.

I had one camping in a belt while I was hunting DGs one time...but I managed to kill it, loot it, and get out before his bomb made it to my caracal Big smile

Two tears in a bucket...
