CCP I have a neat idea, but don't know if you have thouhgt about it before. My idea is making npcs we c an hire to be crew members on our ships. There would be like a tab or slots for them on the ship. The Npcs crew could put skills slightly or a lot depending on what you would think. The downside to them could be the need to continuiously paying them a salary. and if we stop paying them they leave. We could also lose them if our ship is destroyed.

Some ideas for crew members: Gunner, Engineer, Pilot, Navigator, etc.

Gunner could improve weapons damage or tracking speed
Engineer could improve speed or the abilities of items like the webifiers
Pilot could improve a ships ability to turn or wrap faster
Navigator could increase the range of items like the survey scanners for asteroids, or scanning for random things in space.

Could be other crew i just can't think of the name for other crew members that would exist on a ship.

It's a bad idea (and you didn't search first to see that there are other threads with the exact same idea that have been shot down).

No crew. It's a dumb idea. Next you'll want to have crew compartments in ships, and hydroponics labs, and you'll have to feed them and provide them oxygen. I don't want to play house with dollies while I'm killing pirates.

I actually think this is a pretty neat idea.

A nice way to add some RPG elements to the mix. It doesn't have to be anything to complex.

It seems that CCP is confused on this subject:

Quote:
“******* capsuleers,” mutters a man too young to look that old. “Think they’re so special.” He raises his glass and then drops it back down, cursing me under his breath when I don’t reciprocate. I’m in no mood to talk. I’m more interested in listening to the conversation that I and most of the bar are being subjected to.

“And your crew?”

“You know,” he says, lowering his voice to a conspiratorial whisper. “I’d completely forgotten about them.”

Laughter.

“So you jettisoned your pod and left them to die?”

“And what kind of man would I be if I did that! Of course not! I went down with my ship like any proper captain should.”

At that the table erupts in laughter.

I thought about this when i read it in this chronicle but as much i liked it i had to reject it as it goes against one of the core pillars of EVE, immortality. What's the point of having a pod pilot when who knows how many people die with each ship. The point of the pod ships is that there is no human loss.

NOT supported . -1

GO play star treck online . The whole crew structure of that game is is probably what you are looking for . Unfortunately if this was introduced into eve it would break the game for many that have played for years . The game mechanics of it is horrible . It doesnt matter how big your ship is or what guns you have . Its your crew that makes your ship bad ass .

In eve its your skills that make you bad ass . Not an imaginary crew
