Hi,

Congratulations on the Japanese client. I took a look at it when my client was updated, just for fun. It looked very Japanese-like, but whenever I look at another localization of EVE Online, I get saddened by one thing: Aura sounds sooo much better than the English version.

There was a time when I just left my client localized to Deutsch, as Aura's voice is fun there as well. This was fine, since at a certain point one can memorize familiar interface spots. However, suddenly I had to do something that I forgot where it was, and no time to restart.

In the language tab, there's an option for "Always Use English Voice" but how about making that a drop down for other voices? Besides, almost anything that Aura says is described in text at the same moment (i.e. I cannot set a waypoint to the same location twice, you failed to dock because you are cloaked.), so Aura becomes more of a fun feature than a requirement.

(Plus, come on ... Japanese is awesome to hear.)


tl;dr Allow Aura's language to be changed regardless of main client localization.

+1 would be fun

CCP really please dont use Upgraded, Limited, Experimental and Prototype in item names. It sounds like the item is actually worse than basic meta 1 item. Use Calibrated, Enhanced, Optimized and Upgraded. Its really easy to understand that the item is better than meta 1 and its also in alphabetic order.

Found out how to use japanese voice with english text. This probably violates the TOS/EULA and kills baby kittens but here's how:


  1. Go to \res\audio\English(US) in your EVE root directory
  2. Rename Voice.bnk to Voice.bnk.old (or whatever you want really)
  3. Go to \res\audio\Japanese in your EVE root directory and copy Voice.bnk
  4. Go to \res\audio\English(US) in your EVE root directory and paste the copied file


Works fine for me, may get you banned. And me too. Perhaps.

Thanks guys for all the support! And that is a very interesting workaround. I wonder if we can get confirmation about whether or not it kills baby kittens (violates TOS/EULA).

That is a good point! I had completely forgotten about the custom videos people were hacking into their CQs.

Cool! I guess this feature is already in ...

Small update:
Inferno ****** messed (I'm sorry for my bad language, geez) up my method from above as the launcher automatically "repairs" the fix. You can still do it, but you have to start EVE and wait for the launcher to overwrite/patch everything. Then apply the fix. Then click "Play". I've written a script to do the swap for me, but it's tiresome and I barely use it.

Please CCP add a way to do this natively! I want my desu back!
