Moving into a new wormhole

Just thought I'd pop in and give y'all a little update.

It took us 2 orcas, 6 indys, 4 dps, and 2 scouts to make it!

So here's how we did it. Any feedback is appreciated.

Brought everything we needed to rally point with the orcas and indys doing the heavy lifting. At this point Orca #2 had to go so we were down to 1 orca and 6 indys.

Rally point is 2 jumps from WH entrance (lowsec) With great vigilence and 1 cloaky hauler w/ small pos and a bit of fuel and a scout / some dps, we entered the hole and anchored the small pos to an adjacent moon. This small pos would be our firebase for the remaineder of the mission.

Unfortunately no one told me that yo can only anchor 1 pos per system per corp per day. SOOOOO we got all our **** anchored inside the small and ready to go for the next day. Long story short, took the orca + 6 indys about 4 trips getall of our **** into the POS.

Next morning I wake up after downtime and ninja anchor the large with my cloaky indy. A few more minutes and it's onlined and fueld up. Used to orca to take most of the stuff over to large POS and anchor it up. Now I'm sitting pretty with no losses!

Funny enough we had a couple close calls with gate campers from rally point to the WH entrance. Wasn't nothing a good scout couldn't get us past.

All said and done, this was probably the most exciting courier work I've ever done!

Thanks for the advice guys and remember 1 pos per system per corp per day.

grats to your new POS setup, yeah the "1 POS per day " is annoying, did hte same mistake once, put all my stuff to online small POS and wanted to anchor teh large one on the go. -)

how do you get the weight of a ship from a combat probe? Unless this is voodoo black magic, IDK how you can tell.

Well, its not EXACTLY weight. but if you get it past the "blind scan" threshold (where sigs will say grav or unknown or whatever) it will say if its a BC or a dessie or a frig or an indie. i call that weight class. my bad. ;p

An Orca is easily one of the easiest ways to move into a C2.

Finding a wormhole that has no POSes in it can be a challenge though. That being said there are a great deal of them that are offline for whatever reason and should not be too big a problem to remove. In any case it's not a bad idea to put a spare prober into your wormhole of choice and watch it for a week or so.

How often do you see the residents?
How well defended is(are) their POS(es)?
What kinds of ships do you see them in?
Is there a ship maintenance array?

If they have cap ship construction ability in a C2 probably best to assume you are in over your head and just not bother. These people are deadly serious as there is no way to get those caps out of there (with a few very rare exceptions) and no way for you to get your own in. If you try to set up a POS across the system from a handful of dreads and carriers while you have no caps of your own and are trying to get a foothold. Well lets just say I want to see the fraps of you successfully defending that tower, there's probably something to learn there.

Reality has an almost infinite capacity to resist oversimplification.

I would like to take the time to remind you that a cap ship in any hole does not guarantee successful defense. We found a C1 once that held numerous capitals and pilots that could fly them. This did not stop us frkm setting up tower and producing a decent number of battleships that were then used to siege the pos. Once it went into RF, the owners negotiated a way out and gave is the caps to finish bringing down the pos.

Gotta say, it's the only time I will ever know that I flew a phoenix in a C1 AND got to self destruct it because it was too big to leave.

Now that you're in your new system...

1) Everyone in your corp needs to be able to scan (have the skills and the know how). At least one of you should be in the system at all times with a ship that can cloak / scan so that you never lose the location of your system.

2) Run Sleeper sites in PVP fitted ships with logistics. The first time you're running Sleepers and get jumped you'll thank me for that one...

3) When running sleeper sites be sure to scan the system down and place alts cloaked at all of the worm holes -close enough so that you can hear the WH activate but not so close an invading force might easily decloak you. Hearing a WH activate will give you plenty of advanced warning that a hostile force is in system.

4) Never assume that you are alone in any W space system. Ever.

5) My corp actively explores the w space systems that we find in and around our own system looking for targets of opportunity. We get a lot of kills because too many peeps fly in W space like they're in high sec...

Good luck in your new system!
