All you did is make the Wiz a target CCP.

Now try reading it. Or keep crying.

Whatever.

Already did also like I said, i was actually there when he was speaking.

Still not sure what you think is there. Couldn't even find "Reciprocity" or "Reprisal" or "Vengeance"

Would you like to make something else up about what happened?

Hey I called it out as "revenge". And i dont mind wearing the badge that it's my opinion of your actions based on my interpretation of events and intentions. I really don't mind people judging me for this analysis at all. Twisted

You can now go cry to Mommy, CCP or whoever you like about it, but you won't change my opinion on it.

You're right. It is. You made it up. Show me evidence for what you said and I'll happily say you're right.

The Mittani did this to himself and he is now dealing with it.

The so called 1058 need to understand that votes do not make you unaccountable. Learn from your leaders mistake. Don't worship him.

Sure, maybe. Definitely something to think about. It's not as cut and dry an issue as you seem to think. His ship should be less vulnerable to being blown up because it could be construed as harassment? Well... that's not really fair to me and my now more vulnerable ship. There are lot of details that are really fuzzy. Would've been better to handle it quietly instead of making a scene like CCP chose to do.

Yeah... that's not really what this thread is about. Also, I will war ship who ever I feel like. This is a game about that.

Regardless of your side in this matter this dude has been brought to the for front of Eve's space drama. If you're pro goon you're probably not to fond of this guy. If you're a Mittani hater you're probably pretty fond of the dude.

Either way he's in the spot light, probably way more than he wants to be.

So. Long story short, you took a situation that involved a potentially unbalanced individual and decide the best thing to do was make a very public controversial decision that just brings more attention to an already troubled person. You painted a target on his back.

GOOD MOVE. Your continued lack of tact or good PR sense is amazing. This is probably worse than how poorly you handled the Aurum roll out.

So the right thing to do would have been to hide it under the carpet and pretend it didnt happen so as not to hurt the feelings of ~internettoughguys~ who now feel obliged to hunt down the victim. lol

Will Wiz be a target? Sure. Mittani has shown us that there are people out there who are willing to prey on those that cannot defend themselves. However, with Mittani's apology, the pilot is now 10b richer so any hits he takes will be able to be cleaned up nicely until people lose interest.

Honestly, I won't blame CCP because this isn't their fault. I'm a guitarist and play gigs on the weekends with a steady band. Let me draw a few parallels:

1. I am invited by the venue to appear and perform a service.

2. The venue will supply me amenities - usually alcohol - for my service.

3. If I break the venue rules, set fire to the stage or otherwise perform the service I agreed to perform in an unsatisfactory or offensive manner, I won't get paid or asked back, but the blame is on me and not the venue for allowing me to perform.

This model can be applied to Fanfest. I've said it before in other threads, but the blame is completely on the panel for their actions. When you give a bunch of douchebags alcohol and a microphone, this is EXACTLY what happens. The EVE Uni rep was stellar. The rest are a prime example as to why the stereotype of "Gamers = Douchebags" is still valid.

Don't blame CCP for Mittani's action. Don't blame them for the open bar. Blame Mittani's premeditation and the goons around him that reinforced it. Band together. Eradicate Goonswarm.
OK,

Not saying you are wrong, but this is just my view.

(I've posted this before BTW)

If I invited you to a work site, let you get drunk then let you wander into the crowd with a nail gun - who would be at fault when someone lost an eye?

What the MT said was disgraceful. That CCP facilitated it and then has tried to wriggle out of the responsibility with Corporate "Suit" talk is a disgrace.

I don't think you are wrong - as I said this is just my view.

What I would suggest though is that only CCP have the resources to fix this to appease all views and it's not being done. And what they are doing is being done in a VERY ham fisted way.

Fanfest is over. There is very little they can do now. They can't control what happens in-game for obvious reasons, and they already gave Mittani a 30 day vacation from EVE. They can go public with an apology but honestly I think that would make the situation worse. This is Mittani's problem, not CCP's, and I don't agree that they should help clean up Mittani's mess. Honestly I'd say ban him for a year. The Wiz should be offered a new account or character and a free skill boost to ensure he is removed from harm, but other than that, it's up to the community to demand a more grown-up group of representatives.

I hope if this whole situation gets out of hand for the wiz CCP will do exactly that. I personally don't agree with how CCP handled the Mittani and I personally don't approve of Wiz's behavior either but in the end he's the most victimized by all of this.

Hope that CCP will do right by him. They kind'a screwed him over.

Once it went public, besides being live streamed all over the interwebz, and worse into the gaming news sites it could only escalate from there. If it hit BBC, CNN, Fox, MSNBC and all the others then the **** would really have hit the fan. Therefore CCP was forced to deal with it in a public manner. ""Private" manner would have been taken as hiding what happened.

It was already planned, genius. We're actually delaying it until mittens is free.

Wait? Are you saying you guys were already planning to grief the victim when Mittens apologized?

Lets break that logic down.

Something bad happened that we don't want to draw attention to.

So to solve it, we did something that draws attention to it so we could make ourselves look like we're not involved.

But in doing that, we could make the situation worse and since we acted, we're now involved.

It's a catch 22. It would've been better to handle it quietly, have a lawyer or 20 near by. Document everything, CYA and move on.

Sure adults make mistakes, but adults also deal with consequences. I rob someone caus my stomac is sincerely hungry, so I get caught and sincerely apologize. Well I will still have to deal with the law. You decide to test if the guy is really suicidal or not, deal with the consequences of being uneducated. I read news about teen suicide every weeks, I'm not surprised by the shitload.

As for the CSM I wouldn't worry much, lot of clever and pationate guys playing this game.

I'll back you there. Maybe a 10 min delay next year for some quick edits would be bright?

Maybe 1 day delay.. I mean, some people might not of been able to catch on to the relevance of those comments.

Alternatively we could have ambassadors on the CSM able to act like adults perhaps?

These people are video game guys at a party. They're not suits. They're not politicians. The CSM is a volunteer panel so the players can talk more directly with the company. They're putting in time and work because they LIKE A VIDEOGAME. Why are we holding them to higher standards than actual politicians?

What you are doing here is saying "if you do not let us bully him this way, we are going to do something even worse". That is a classic example of how mobs behave in bullying incidents. It is called "holding hostages". In school bullying cases, it usually manifests in the victim pleading for adults not to interfere, because "it will only get worse". You are not trying to hold hostage the victim; you are trying to hold hostage the whole community. You are trying to bully us into not opposing bullying by threatening us with more bullying.

It's not going to work.
