Congratulations CCP, you just accomplished everything you claimed you were setting out to stop.

This is clear harassment, players involved should be banned.

It is clear harassment and players will likely get themselves banned if not worse. Worse being real legal action against them.

As long as they act within game mechanics its not harassment, sorry, but CCP brought all the attention on the man in question, he wasn't going to be bothered until they made a mountain out of a molehill.\

If i was the man in question i would actually talk to a lawyer, as CCP has unquestionably put him in a position where the largest portion of the game possible hates him.

You can't use the game mechanics as an excuse to actively victimise a player as the intent has nothing to do with the game. You could find yourself in a court of law. CCP are watching and they will deal with it harshly because they'll have to.

Sure sure, but its ok for CCP to drag said player into the spotlight in a game where being ruthless is at its very core.

Don't blame the players, they're just venting that the person they all elected has been removed by ccp, who then put the reason they removed him under a magnifying glass.

This isn't the players fault, CCP handled this like a bull in a china shop, if anybody finds themselves in a court of law (you're an idiot for even suggesting that might happen) it will be the game company you currently play for, this is all their doing.

This would have simply blown over if for once they'd have just shut the hell up, but they HAD to say and do something, and in doing something they've drawn all the attention down on the original player who was supposed to be a victim.

Is this bad troll? I just looked him up ingame and he has no bounty and 4.2 sec status. You do know that you can only place bounties on chars with less than -1 sec, right? If it's not an ingame bounty then I'm not sure we should really care because those are all bs anyways. Ingame bounties are broken as hell too and are the exact opposite of griefing. What, I mean ingame bounties are super griefing, please don't put a bounty on me good sir, I'd be so sad if you put a 5b bounty on my head :( :(

In other news, does john roe really have a 200b isk bounty? Crazy. And what's with all these EOH people with 500m bounties. This is just weird.

Ok how about this for an idea:

CCP adds a new option to the game. If you are feeling down and may cut yourself you can press a button in the menu. Once this button is pressed no can do any damage to your ship and no one can start a convo with you.

Will this make you "we have to make sure no one ever ever gets their feeling hurt" people happy?

So the victim became the target because a mob decided to cyber bully him because they did not like the actions of the MMO co. That could make good headlines too.

It's not about adding new options it's about not making conflicts personal. The strange thing is the people that complain it's getting softer are usually the reason it gets softer or at least a small percentage of them.

What's more of a concern is there are lots of groups outside of the gaming industry that would like nothing more than tougher restrictions on games. And it's the type of action you are contemplating that is likely to give them what they need and ruin it for all gamers.

"The victim" doesn't control CCP's actions. Whether he "is cool with it" or not doesn't matter. CCP's ToS/EULA were violated. CCP made the decision to punish "the offender" as they would any other player out of principle. Simply being a member of the CSM does not mean that the rules do not apply to you.

Yes. CCP brought this upon him. Not the rampaging goon idiots who can't tell the difference between reality and game. Nor is it Mr. Alexander Gianturco's fault for his inappropriate real-life threats over a game. Nope, it's CCP's fault Roll.

Which is also an indication of cyber bullying. They won't be able to spin it as game mechanics.

Pretty sure using the 'give money' function is a game mechanic. It's no different than paying a merc corp to **** on someone you dislike.

Does not matter, it's the intent that counts. They won't be out to play the game they will be out to cyber bully him, plain and simple. CCP are already aware and monitoring.

RMT violates the TOS, dumbass. Paying someone in-game to kill another player does not.

Meh, most of the people creating problems are cowards acting from behind NPC alts.

The only name associated (unfairly imo) with the other side is "The Wis".
