Are you feeling a little pucker in your seat goons? If so, that's your *** working as intended.

From what I've seen of them off and on over the years, I don't think the leadership will change the goons as a whole. Every MMO I've seen them in, they act the same. Different leaders, same MO. They will go on without the mitanni if something were to happen to him. I mean, it is probably a given that the most that will happen is that he won't be on the CSM. They wouldn't ban his accounts. Who knows, maybe his wife will give him enough bullshit that he quits on his own and turns over the ownership of the goons to someone else who will just do the same thing.

I don't see the goons being hurt at all, or this creating some mass exodus from the game.

I can see this happening. She really wants him to stop playing this game.

Wait you are asking people that have fun spinning ships in a station to watch to counter if they are board yet?
Hmmm..

There are quite a few people who would like to know what you believe should be done about The Mittani's behavior. Could you please provide your thoughts on this matter?

get your facts first before posting ...

Erm, the "something horrible" he apologizes for was mocking the miner at a live event and giving out his character name. He never claimed to have serious intent behind it.

He at no point said that it wasn't a joke or anything other than mocking.

But yes, he freely admitted that his mockery at the event was past the line.

his words not mine ...
This has been hanging over my head since Thursday when I stumbled away from the Alliance Panel with a vague sense that I had done something horrible

Yes, and read further where he explains what he did wrong that went over the line.

Care to quote the part that states he did anything other than mock Wis and give out his characters name. He acknowledges that this mockery at a live event was waaay over the line.

Thats it. There was no "according to Alex (the RL guy) it wasnt a joke" involved, you simply made that part up.

so you trying to tell me that it was a joke by alex from his point of view ?

To a point. I said earlier I believe this issue is between CCP, the Mittani and The Wis. The Mittani is a ****, no arguments there. His Goon pets without any behavioural inhibitions are doing a fantastic impersonation of showing us how little humanity they have. I don't think the Mittani will command the same respect as he had before, but that is a personal opinion.

The Wis has conflicting stories, accept an apology and massive ISK donation and still seems put out. It's hard to understand what is going on in his head, hard to understand why. And not really my place or anyone else's place to try and use him as a sockpuppet against the Mittani.

But, if he spoke out and told CCP and the Mittani what he wants - maybe that will help with a resolution. For example, he might say he does not want the Mittani to resign and that he accepts the apology. He might say he wants a Fanfest style broadcast apology. He might want a new character with the same skillpoints and stuff to escape all this attention.

And what he wants out of it should be the end of it.

/troll mode off
Exactly. Who the hell do people think they are, trying to dictate how CCP solves a dispute between two players? TheWis and Mittens are the only ones who have any right to be posting in this thread, everyone elses opinion doesnt mean ****.

Thank you for having the courage to enter the shark pool known as The Mittani's apology. It is very enlightening to hear your thoughts on the matter as his goon minions have been spinning the truth in here so fast they should all be falling over dizzy. Your points are 100% valid about this not being an in-game issue.

If you live in the US, I suggest you contact an attorney and ask him about the possibility of a lawsuit for "intentional infliction of emotional distress." Courts have ruled that the offense must rise to the level that the average person upon hearing of it would exclaim "outrageous!" I believe urging people on a live broadcast to make someone kill themselves because that person had voiced suicidal thoughts rises to that level of outrageousness. As punitive damages can be collected in this type of case, you may be looking at a substantially valuable claim. Just food for thought.

Wow, quoting American law on an internet forum. You must be an expert barrister then, right? Please, tell us more about your long and successful career in criminal law.

As I said previously, I believe he has a decent case for "intentional infliction of emotional distress." Do try to keep up.

As for cyber-bullying, I would give that less chance for a successful suit just because of how new that theory is. However, it is trending pretty dramatically at the moment, and I believe this has enough of a tangible connection to the internet to push it that direction if done properly.

But that's not what the replier was getting at. He was implying that somehow because the internet was involved, there's no cause of action in the US. Or at least that's what I got from the whiney little scream about "America isn't the internets!&!@&!" Of course it's not.

Yay, I love direct insults. Direct insults are only used when someone does not have a logical answer to give, so retaliates with feeble insults.

My post was sarcastically criticising the way many people pretend to have extensive knowledge of their country's laws, when really all they have done is looked up 'cyber bullying laws' on wikipedia.
