I feel for you Wis, I really do. You were the brunt of a drunken joke. The Mittani both apologized in this thread, and sent you a large sum of isk by way of apology and to compensate you many times over for what you lost.

However, this post is late. In fact, in a controversy like this, where every single Anti-Mittani, Anti-Goon sicophant has come running to join the fray, demanding blood, this post is too late. This story broke 3 days ago. You were made aware of it 2 days ago (at the very least). Several people have asked for your opinion in in-game conversations, and these are posted here in this thread. Previously, you seemed pretty non-chalant. Of course, not at all happy that you were used as a joke, but certainly not looking for blood and certainly not hopping on the mock outrage bandwagon. So consider me a skeptic. Just as many people here are skeptics of The Mittani's apology, I am skeptic that this is genuine outrage.

So what was the promised price? Yeah, I said it. In a politically charged atmosphere where every eve politician and goon hater stands to gain something from The Mittani's downfall, it is not at all far fetched to believe that you were well-compensated for this post. I can't prove it, but the delay between this charade becoming viral and you coming here to give your fake outraged opinion, lends plenty of credibility to the notion that this post came with a price tag. Hell, it'd be a bargain for some of the people here screaming with mock anger to give you double what the Mittani gave you just for a simple post on how 'hurtful' this was.

You should also consider that people like Jade Constantine, sitting there on their high horse acting like you're their long-lost space brother, really don't care at all about you. In fact, regardless of what they say, the vast majority of the phony Mittani haters here don't have the slightest bit of compassion for you or what happened to you. They just stand to gain from the consequences.

So congrats, you have become a means to an end, and you've played your part brilliantly.

No one knew if Wis was really suicidal or not. Mittani crossed a line that should not have been crossed. I do believe Mittani is sincere in his apology, but he messed up pretty badly and should face some consequences for it


This was never anything over the game. I was having fun with the guys and it did not hurt my in game wallet. I am sorry that after talking to them I told them more then I should.
None of this is over the game itself. I am 47 and try not to let game things bother me. It is hard to do sometimes But it happens.
So I vented my frustration to him fine. Done.. But to make it public. Ok that I guess only hurts me.. But to call out my name and encourge people to go after me.. Well that is different.
The mail I sent him I had allot of double enduwindows for him to get a laugh out of. LIke I will go play with myself. that was ment for a laugh on his part.

You missed out the part that it was a joke and not to be taken seriously at all.


Its about perception.

You think it was a Joke, hence funny.

Just because you think it was funny doesn't mean other people will think its funny.

Now okay, before you argue does that mean you can't go around making jokes for fear of offending anybody, no it doesn't, not at all.

However there are some subject matters which, when addressing thousands of players at a official CCP Event and you are the Player Elected Chairman, you do not joke about.

I would say one of those is assisting somebody to commit suicide, especially when you take into account the current publicity in the media world wide about Cyber Bullying and how Computers Games are making kids kill people etc etc.

the quote was ""incidentally if you want to make the guy kill himself" ...etc etc. yes its tasteless, and there should be some form of consequence for it, but its worth pointing while he's floating the idea of making this guys life even more of a misery, he's hardly plotting his downfall or personally organizing people to harass him in shifts round the clock, or taking it out of game (in the sense of publishing his real name / address / phone number)

ultimately it's ccp's bat & ccp's ball and they can do whatever the hell they like, ranging from banning mittens to posting “lol carebears” in a dev-blog but either way i'd be amazed if anything serious actually comes from this storm in a teacup

This thread is entirely tl;dr, but has anyone pointed out that CCP put the guy's character name on the login screen? Now compare that to saying it at a rather low-key presentation (Which would have been much lower of a key if the morallords didn't rile up so much faux indignation over it)

It is very enlightening to hear your thoughts on the matter as his goon minions have been spinning the truth in here so fast they should all be falling over dizzy. Your points are 100% valid about this not being an in-game issue.

If you live in the US, I suggest you contact an attorney and ask him about the possibility of a lawsuit for "intentional infliction of emotional distress." Courts have ruled that the offense must rise to the level that the average person upon hearing of it would exclaim "outrageous!" I believe urging people on a live broadcast to make someone kill themselves because that person had voiced suicidal thoughts rises to that level of outrageousness. As punitive damages can be collected in this type of case, you may be looking at a substantially valuable claim. Just food for thought.
