….you've gotta love eve, i don't know of any other mmo that can generate such delicious quantities of drama

While my opinions nothing special, and I don't expect anyone much to read it, let alone care. (and I must admit I’ve only bothered to read the first and last few pages of this threadnought and the various blog posts). Nevertheless, its time to bombard the internet with my useless but oh-so-important point of view.

I’ve no great love for mittens, having ended up on the opposing side to the swarm several times over the years, but I still can't help but feel things have been blown out of all proportion here.

People have made comment of the fact that the presentation was prepared in advance, and as such that being drunk can't be used as an excuse naming and shaming the unfortunate sad-sack in question. I think its important to make a distinction between the actual presentation , which was planned in advance and doesn’t include any names (unlike some of the national anthem singers), and the question that was sprung on him afterwards.

I don't think revealing one of chaps in-game identity's was any great crime, particularly if as reported he runs 20 accounts (although perhaps somewhat insensitive given he could potentially come unhinged but hey, this is internet spaceships, not hello kitty online … htfu), The part where it fall falls apart though is the insinuation that it would be hilarious to deliberately attempt to push their hapless victim over the edge. You'd like to hope that the people watching the presentation would have enough common sense not to, but then there's plenty of retards on the internet, and mitten's behaviour was fairly inexcusable even if completely legless at the time.

The fact the chap appears to be fine, somewhat mitigates the situation. Although I can't help but wonder what effect the sudden coddling attention is having on him compared to the potential further harassment, as highlighting him as a suicide risk who needs special attention could be just as damaging

overall I think mittens apologises, along with an isk donation and goes some what to show his sincerity. While the fact he's already semi announced it, and been covered in the gaming press, personally I hope he doesn’t actually resign from the csm, as hate him or … er hate him, I think overall he's had a positive impact, and for better or worse is a character within the eve community, but the wheels of fate might have already turned to far on that one.

You could also argue this guy would still be mining if the Mittani didn't decided to show his eve mail to thousands of people and then further mock and humiliate him

If I caught a guy using 23 botting accounts to mine, I would mock and humiliate him. Then I would spam CCP until they perma banned him for such blatant botting.
