A couple of days ago I was trying to give a corpmate 2 million to help him get a cruiser. I typed in 2,000,000...but my 0 key got stuck, and increased the amount to at least 2,000,000,000. I had about 900m, and it sent the entire amount to him. Luckily he could be trusted, and returned the full amount.

But I can't be the only one this has happened to.

I think we can all assume we would feel pretty bad if we accidentally gave the whole contents of our wallet to somebody who wouldn't give it back because a key got became jammed. So, what if, when we try sending an amount that is a certain percent (35% for example, maybe even alterable in preferences) or more of the our current wallet balance, it simply ask for a confirmation? A small popup, with "Confirm" and "Cancel" buttons. It seems simple, and I don't see much reason not to.

EDIT: Corrected syntax.

Why not just not allow to send more than you actually have.
Just give the message "You do not have [AMOUNT_OF_ISK] ISK, sorry!"

I would love to get divisions in my wallet so that problem you describe can be fixed.

besides, before clicking on Ok, I make sure the amount I give is right.

It already does this. Anything further is just handholding.

Consider checking how much isk you are sending before you send it. Failing to do so gives you everything you deserve.

No, that only happens when you fat finger your keyboard or smash your face repeated, followed by rolling or dragging it left to right to get the enter key. How you hit the enter key after you 0 key got "stuck" Roll is beyond me, if you noticed before hand the amount you could of canceled and tried again.

Also, if someone can't afford 2 million for a cruiser, then they are going to promptly lose it. They don't know how to use it, nor do they know how to replace it on their own. Its better off to show them how to make isk in game then to just give it away, because it will start to cause trust issues when they keep hitting you up cause Daddy Iskies is so free with his money and you start to get annoyed with it.

And don't be offended if I told everyone how you screwed up, I once placed...about a few extra zeros trying to sell faction ammo for about 4 million a pop and it was quite a large batch....like 200 million in taxes. Big smile

Honestly, I think a better fix is to give us a little drop down next to the space where you enter the amount that can be set to isk, million isk and billion isk.

That way the onus is still on players the check they are sending the right amount, but you feel more confident that you have pressed the right buttons.

Personally I don't have a major issue with checking the amount, but since the minimum anyone genuinely sends each other is in millions anyway, having the option to switch to that would make things more streamlined.

There are many aspects of this game that are basically counting the zeros, which seems odd for the future. They changed contracts to tell you in words what the isk amount was, because it was so easy to miss count, so its not like there isn't a precedent.

In reality if I transfer someone a large sum of money, I do it by cheque (in which I have to write it in words, and in numbers) or I tell another person what the amount is (ie using words) so that this kind of stuff doesn't happen in reality. And this is the future...

+1 I like this. It should never just give what you have and call it good.
