Really Salvaging Ships

Ok, it basically goes like this,

alot of people have heard from fanfest that they are thinking about adding a part of the game where you actually dock with derelict ships far in space and get fancy stuff from them.

my idea is to take it farther and 1/10 er so real ships that are destroyed are "dock-able"

where you can dock and repair the ship and fly off with it for instance.

maybe the ship is partially destroyed and some manufacturing materials is able to be taken from the ship while you have to salvage the rest from space.

or maybe there is someone on board that is injured and if you save him he will lead you to some mission with a faction drop.

or maybe there is a bomb on board and you have to run to get out

there can be TONS of different options.

would be nice to have so many options that you can't really guess what it will be until you figure it out on your own.

it would also be interesting because you don't know who will show up while you are inside and blow the whole thing up or ransom you etc.

Or a combination of all that Yulinki has said.
as well as aspects from the new DUST 514, where your character can physically go explore the ship to find things.... people.. items.. etc. (Sounds kind of like HALO, but hey, it is space related like EVE!

See, I'd like this, but I'd also like the ability to walk around a station with a really nice, shiny pistol strapped to my hip while I wear a really nice trench coat. Is it possible? Yes. Has CCP promised both more clothes and walking in stations? Yes. Do I have it yet? No. This sort of thing would take a lot of time to code and then to make it so there are no exploits.

Great suggestion though.

"dock with derelict ships"
No they never said that, it was more like docking to those npc structures in sites and missions to hunt implant pieces.

Anyone here that has gone through the mission "Damsel in Distress" will know what I'm talking about here. Docking with the station (Kruul's Pleasure Gardens/Hub), going to get the objective woman, and evading Zor's guards before getting back to your ship to fight them in space would be a lot of fun.

And this silly suggestion isn't ripe for abuse.

AFK ships, people already steal them when some idiot hops out.

No need to implement and make it more complicated, you exit a ship in space to check out a wreck expect to find your ship gone Roll

how about making it so you would actually need components from the market needed to build ships and a " repair gantry " to be anchored in space to rebuild ships, or at least make them flyable, this ould take a few hours to do, and while that happens you could possibly be attacked or driven off,

imagine a hulk of a battle ship being scanned down, while the scout waits, his corpmates fly industrials filled with parts and deploy the rig , if they are lucky they may be able to limp the ship back for complete repairs.

One of my corp mates stole an orca once, seeing this happen more often would be hilarious :)

Simple idea:-

Find a wreck
use module+skull to scan and identify it
scoop wreck to suitably large cargo hold
haul back to station/POS
Feed wreck in to normal ship construction process to get bonus materials or possibly just time off manufacturing run time.
???
Profit!
