Problem:
No update is made.

First time I launched the game today I downloaded the patch. Then it said it was going to quit the client and start the update. "OK". Client quits but no update. Every time I launch the game I get the message that it's going to do the update, but nothing really happens.

Hardware:
iMac10,1
Intel Core 2 Duo 3.06 Ghz
4GB RAM
ATI Radeon HD 4670

OS:
OS X.6.8 "Snow Leopard"

No workaround so far.

I maybe be a dork on this stuff, but you guys could make it easier...

So, this is how I solved it:

To play the game I do this, go to Applications / Eve Online.app (right-click, open "Show Package Contents") / Contents / Resources / Eve Online.app (I can never play by opening Applications/Eve Online.app, don't know why, an error shows up and kills Eve)

Earlier today this showed me a message about the update, I clicked to update and then all the above I wrote on the last post.

Now you need to update Eve Online Launcher. For this just open Applications / Eve Online.app . This should pop: http://i.imgur.com/b2izU.png
Then you should be able to click on Play when the downloading is finished.
Now, you're on Eve Online BUT, it will now update (as is download something, again). Now it will really update. EVE client will be killed, updated and back on.

Good flying out there.

Low Framerates with dual clients still, pre 1.5 i had a solid 30FPS per client, now down to 10FPs on each even on 1.6

2010 MBP 2.4GHz i7, 330M, 8GB RAM

OS 10.6.8

General mining in high sec, all details on medium, they used to be on high pre 1.5, dare not move toons to null sec for fear of client getting worse performance

Same old problem - "Patch was unsuccessful" error being given after launcher creates and downloads patch. Console shows an error: "AttributeError: 'Thread' object has no attribute '__bootstrap'". Subsequent running of launcher provides same error, though without creating and downloading patch first.

MacBook (first generation aluminium unibody, version 5.1), Intel Core 2 Duo 2GHz, 4GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 9400M
OS X 10.6.8, case sensitive filesystem
EVE Online Launcher 1.04

Issue is caused by running the launcher normally.
Only known workaround is to download the entire EVE client again.

The issue preventing case sensitive filesystems from patching with the launcher is still here.

Sadface, I hope I can play on my macbook again soon.. It would suck if I had to go on the road again without Eve...

I'm not a coder, but maybe this would help?:

I'm having problems with the UI being completely unresponsive upon login.
This doesn't happen every time I log in, but maybe 50% of the time
Clicking any icon on the UI, the market for example, will often only give me a flashing market icon and no window.
Other times the window will open but theres no functionality, prices and lists won't show up.
This applies to every button, can't undock, can't refit, can't update skill queue.

The only solution Is to quit the game and reload. Sometimes I have to quit out 3 or 4 times before i get the UI to work, but once its working it doesn't to drop out again.

1.6 feedback:

Full client 1.6 downloaded. Comes with Launcher 1.13, which is a bit of a relief, even if the feature list is cut down compared to the Windows version.

Attempting to patch to 1.6.1 still failed. Launcher provided error window with this error in the traceback:

Quote:

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "lib/update.pyc", line 529, in Update
File "lib/update.pyc", line 586, in _Update
File "lib/update.pyc", line 305, in Run

File "zsync/fileSync.pyc", line 431, in OpenHandlers
IOError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/applications/eve online.app/contents/resources/eve_online_356445-356901.patch'

This appears to be a case sensitivity issue with the launcher. The file referred to exists, but the path and filename contain capital letters not indicated in the error.

Pressing the "Start EVE" button on the error window launches the client, which then attempts to download the new build, but after downloading the new build it is not installed. This error is given in console:

Quote:
31/03/12 10:12:42 AM [0x0-0x6b06b].org.pythonmac.unspecified.EVEOnline[816] sh: /Applications/EVE Online.app/Contents/Resources/tgApplyPatch.app/Contents/MacOS/tgApplyPatch: No such file or directory

This path is incorrect. The correct path is: /Applications/EVE Online.app/Contents/Resources/Eve Online.app/Contents/Resources/tgApplyPatch.app/Contents/MacOS/tgApplyPatch

Moving /Applications/EVE Online.app/Contents/Resources/EVE Online.app (the actual game) into the /Applications folder does not rectify the issue, as installing the launcher fails in the same manner the original 1.5 patch failed to install the launcher - long hang, then crash.

I have a problem with the client freezing, doesn't matter where I am, could be in station or space, but the client hangs and the latest sound that was playing is looping really fast like a stuck record and both cpu-cores goes to 100%.

Mac Mini 2010.

2.4 Core 2 Duo

4GB Ram

Nvidia 320m

OS X Lion 10.7.3

Yes I know the system isn't the most powerful one around but it's all I have to play on at the moment.

Sigh, the bug preventing the thrice-damned launcher from running on a case-sensitive filesystem is still here as of 1.6.3

This is really getting old. I realize this is a corner-case, but I've seen a number of people posting about this in the forums.

A fix would be appreciated, but on the other hand more ignoring of this game-breaking issue will lead me to discontinue my subscriptions.

It has been three weeks since I could patch Eve on my macbook.

As of 1.6.4 have been getting simular experiences. It worked fine to start with, but now my client freezes anywhere from 1 second to 1 hours after i log in.

Same here. my clients first froze yesterday, and since then it will randomly and frequently freeze while I'm on EVE. I don't have sound enabled so I don't know about the looping audio, but besides that I'm experiencing similar issues.

Macbook Pro
2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
4GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 320M
OS X 10.6.8

I have no idea what triggers it; everything seems fine until I try to do something like spin the camera and realize it's not responding. At one point I got an error message about lag, but the longer I wait the less responsive it becomes.

No work-around here besides Force Quitting and relaunching. Changing Graphics and Audio settings seem to have no effect.

Maybe someone can give me a hand with this. I have been looking everywhere. I am running EVE on my macbook air...the 1.8 i7 with intel 3000 graphics. I basically just use it to update my skill cue when I am on the road and not able to access my desktop and the occasional market work. When the 1.6 update came out it royally screwed EVE up for me. When I launch EVE by pressing play in the launcher window the crucible loading screen comes up...for about 15-30 seconds...then the game launches...but all that is there is a black screen...i can see the EVE mouse pointer but thats it. no matter how long i leave the client running nothing ever happens...just a black screen...this is a major problem for me with the spring and summer coming up when I tend to travel alot more and I am sometimes not able to get to my desktop for several weeks at a time. any help or advice would be appreciated

After doing this:

Lucas Arbosa wrote:

Show Package Contents on Eve Online.app and then browse to Eve Online.app/Contents/Resources/Eve Online.app.

To force the launcher to re-patch your client browse into that client (Show Package Contents again) to EVE Online.app/Contents/Resources/transgaming/c_drive/Program Files/CCP/EVE and delete a file called common.ini before restarting the client again.

Full path: {Install path}/Eve Online.app/Contents/Resources/Eve Online.app/Contents/Resources/transgaming/c_drive/Program Files/CCP/EVE/common.ini

This reapplies the patch and then I was able to get it to run by executing the Eve Online.app/Contents/Resources/Eve Online.app

But the launcher still results in nothing happening...

I got it to work by running the Eve Online.app inside Eve Online.app
