Client update isn't mandatory for logging in so just give it a go again on your next log in. It contains a few nice UI fixes, nothing extreme.

Client update is a form of patching we do when we need to get small client side issues fixed as quickly as possible, only certain types of issues can be addressed via client updates. Building and deploying a client update can be done within ten minutes while a full patch via launcher takes at least three hours to build.

Hope this clarifies the issue.
