Flying Logistics

I really want to try flying Logistics. I should be able to in about 8 days. My questions are:

How do I find a fleet to heal?

How do I protect myself from unscrupulous people in my search?

How do I make a profit from it? (if possible)

Thanks for your help!

If you don't know yet what type of fleet you will be "healing", it's good to train for at least three logistics ships: with bonuses to remote armor repping (Gallente), remote shield repping (Caldari) and cap transfer (Amarr). That's pretty much 3 paths. And remember, skills for flying a particular ship is not enough. You need also skills for reps and at least some experience in the field (logis are often primary targets).

1. Join a corp or team up with your friends
2. Good question...
3. It depends on what that fleet does (PvP - small income unless someone pays you for the fight, PvE - large...ish income) and what are the rules of loot division (i.e. 30% for scouts, 10% for DPS, 0% for logistics and dictors, 60% for CEO).

How do I find a fleet to heal? - Join my corp

How do I protect myself from unscrupulous people in my search? - we're awesome

How do I make a profit from it? (if possible) - we run incursions and stuff, thus, win

If you plan on flying logistics in EVE, the actual skill training to be able to do it very well will take you quite a bit of time. That said, there are some t1 cruisers in the Caldari (Osprey, shields), and Gallente (Exequror, armor) lines which have the necessary range and capacitor use reduction bonuses to make them useful. These can let you get a feel for the role and decide whether it's worth devoting the months of skill training it takes to fly a well-fit Logistics ship. It sounds like you're well on your way, given your 8 day estimate, but I would check your fit with someone you trust to give good advice before undocking it

If you're doing this PvE, finding a group that you get along with that would make good use of your specialization is the most important thing. If you're doing the Basilisk or the Guardian, being in a group with other Basilisks and Guardians will be necessary. The Onieros and Scimitar are a bit more forgiving. Incursion groups use logistics, and at the less profitable end, some mission runners who don't have ideal tanks find the necessary, so both of these are PvE roles. In 0.0, some complexes benefit a lot from a logistics ship on a team. I'm also told Wormhole corporations can make good use of Logistics while running sleeper sites, but I don't have personal experience there

For PvP, it's even more critical to find a good group of pilots you get along with. You should make sure to get into a group that does not judge your performance solely by billboard stats, as properly flown logistics won't necessarily be getting on killmails, unless they either fit a gun (which is a really poor decision) or assign drones to assist a friendly pilot in battle (which has some issues but isn't as terrible a decision). A good corporation should provide reimbursement incentives for logistics pilots, as they're generally crucial to many gang compositions, moderately expensive, and they tend to be called primary in fights.

Good luck finding a good corporation which suits you. More than anything else, this helps make EVE a great game.

That seems risky. Sleepers switch aggro. You can forget about repping in peace while tanks are focusing entire enemy fire. And omnidamage from Sleeps can be more than logistics ship can handle. I would not recommend going into w-space PvE battle in a T1 logistics cruiser. T2 on the other hand... have not tried yet, but maybe you can mold something interesting. Five low slots on Oneiros you say...

The way to profit from it is *not* to heal at the correct time.
Use that delicious large cargo hold afterwards ^^

you want to get Logi to V before you become a really effective logi pilot. Before that you are more of a liability.
