I agree with you - formation IN COMBAT are a bad idea.... However...

WARP FORMATIONS would be a godsend!!!!

For example so that the logies land 30 km behind the battle line and the battle line lands as a plate instead of a ball about 2-3km from the warp in point... And oh hey it would let you avoid the "warp in and mass collitions happen..." issues you run into.

Or wing 1 landing on the point, wing 2 landing 10km to the left and wing 3 landing 100km behind the warp in point....

Landing dispersed -10km ball instead of the 3km ball

Landing concentrated...

**** the bonuses - For good FC's the ability to customize the fleet warp profile would be bonus enough!!!

Why not send the CSM an evemail yourself and ask them to pass it on? That's what they're there for after-all.

Can't the WC just warp his wing to wherever the FC wants it to be? idk, never been in fleet fight.

Anyway wasn't the lead dev saying how he disliked fleet warp and the only reason it stays in was cause he'd end up being stabbed? The reasoning behind it was the fact that a well trained fleet could all warp themselves, and this skill has been lost since they implemented fleet warp. Sort of lazy to have an fc just hit "WARP ALL TO X", kinda like "1-a"ing in an rts. Would be even less skillful to have one smart dude do all the work while the rest just wait till they are told a name and hit F1.

No!

If the fleet members are not following orders it is because they are bad, and they should get better.

Adding the ability for the FC to pilot their ships for them is not the answer!

I also like this idea and I think it is even more relevant now that ships are being rebalanced into “Ship Lines” (roles). For example, the new “Bombardment Ships” (weaker defense with longer range weapons) will need to stay further away from the enemy’s front lines while the “Combat Ships” (higher defense/attack) would probably want to be closer to the action.

Just to clarify, I like this idea for warping/jumping but I believe it should “turn off” once the fleet has arrived at their destination and pilots should be able to choose their location in the formation prior to jump or at least choose to accept/deny the FC’s recommendation (no direct FC control of other ship’s movements)

Ever heard the command "WARP IN AT RANGE"? Seems an awful like what you're describing. It just relies on a bunch of people not being idiots, instead of just one person not being an idiot.

Working as intended, IMO

Not Flyinghotpocket's alt. At all.

Formations would be great for Steath Bombers fleets for obvious reasons.
