Why CCP shouldn't implement the new missile launchers

Imagine you are in a 1000 man blob about to engage another 1000 man blob. You are all flying missile boats. Starting all missiles at the center of the ship is ugly but efficient.

But now tens of thousands of missile turrets have to be rotated into firing position! This is going to produce a lag bomb the likes of which nullsec has never seen.

CCP needs to wait a few years to implement the new missiles, wait for Moore's law to make it viable. Vote against increasing fight lag!

Things are only impossible until they are not.

Worked fine when they did this to turrets, they also all rotate and do awesome stuff these days.

Hey, someone else who doesn't understand the difference between client-side and server-side computation.

Watch_ Fred Fred Frederation_ and stop cryptozoologist! Fight against the brutal genocide of fictional creatures across New Eden! Is that a metaphor? Probably not, but the fru-fru- people will sure love it!

If you zoom in/out from your ship fitted with turrets, you'd notice the turrets disappear completely at a certain distance. The same with the engine graphics. they get reduced down to 2 triangles.

You can also completely disable Turret/Missile animations and effects. The server doesnt tell your client to turn/rotate the missiles. The Missile/turret graphics are all entirely handled by your client only. The client recieves information that it has launched another missile only. The client then decides how to rotate the launcher, and how to display the graphics associated with it. It adds nothing to the network traffic.

New missiles wont add any extra lag or cause any kind of FPS drop.

BTW "lag" is short for latency. On the internet, it is a term used to describe the time required to transmit a communication from one computer to another. Lag has -nothing- to do with your framerate.

FPS or "Framerate" is how fast the image on your screen is updated by your videocard, and has nothing to do with lag.

You can be 'lagging out" (no communication with the server) and still get 200 FPS. You can have 'no lag' and still get 1 FPS. The two are completely unrelated.

"War declarations are never officially considered griefing and are not a bannable offense, and it has been repeatedly stated by the developers that the possibility for non-consensual PvP is an intended feature." - CCP

They even pop in and out (some of them anyway) when you warp!

no at all. physics simulation is what controls stuff like the vector and speed of objects and that calculates how collisions and alike will turn out, graphics is just what you see, the fact this 2 are decoupled can often be noticed when your ship warps sideways, basically your client hasnt updated your ship visual vector, but the server and physics engine already updated said information.

That is not lag you are experiencing. It is Time Dialation.

It is a Feature.

Nerfing High-sec is never the answer. It is the question. The answer is 'YES'.
