Who the hell doesn't have their overview up when in combat? WTF?

Real men chase interceptors on-screen with their mice.

It's a new meta-game. If you can catch the interceptor and right click "lock" in it, you win!

Badass! All four of those are excellent, but I especially like the top one.

Easy change??? Methinks so.

Audio cue for being warp scrambled: Sound of a car engine that won't run, just continuous starter noises

Audio cue for webber: sound of squealing car brakes, maybe a visual cue of a parking brake light on a dashboard

The frustrating thing is a lot of good ideas drop out of discussions because it's easier to rail against something than it is to support it on a forum.

Sounds good, i want to have a ******* orchestra when im ewar'd, and the trollface definitely adds to the serious issue of spaceship games (seriously though, the red speed bar is a nice idea for that)

I suppose the trollface should be reserved for ECM. That's not to represent the play, it's to represent the ******* who thought ECM was a fair thing to have and implement.

Things that are a good reason to want improvement:

Aphoxema G wrote:
The icon is about the size of a hair and when overlaid on text it is very hard to see, let alone distinguish from other icons.

Things that are your own dumb fault:

Aphoxema G wrote:

  • You must have the overview open (though you probably will).
  • More entries on the overview means more to look through.
  • It's entirely possible to not even have the person who is disrupting you on your overview.

I *would* like to be able to better discern those ships that are actively interfering with my ability to escape. That's crucial information. The pop-up text warnings that you are warp disrupted disappear too quickly to be of use...in most battles you don't even have time to see them.

Let's add an overview option for ships applying various effects, instead of just the icons. That way someone who is concerned about it can set it so that, for example, anyone applying a warp disruptor to them flashes black (or whatever color they want).

Also, I like the idea of turning the "speedometer" different colors. Yellow for being webbed, red for being disrupted.

Two seemingly simple changes that greatly increase a pilot's awareness on the battlefield.

Maybe the option to force to show when someone is disrupting/EWAR on you (if for some reason they're not appearing on overview) and move them to the top of the overview list. It's easy for people with medium experience to make a mistake on overview settings, or anyone who's venturing into new territory (PvE'ers stepping into PvP).

I recently lost my newly fit Navy Domi, cause I did order a fleet warpout when I didn't realize I was disrupted. Sadly, I was unable to destroy the disruptors before I was gone :( (L4 with sudden aggro on the wrong ship. And yes - I'm a noob)

The in-space interface is a mess in general.
I like the idea of a red text above your shield meter to show the active "debuffs" on you. I mean - we can learn from other games interfaces, can we... (and no - those little grey bars don't count)
Just show me - I'm currently scrammed, nos-ed and weapon disrupted. The problem, that finding those enemies in the overview is hard is on a whole different level from there! But the general information needs to be visible ALL THE TIME - even when the overview holds more entries than it can display at that time.

With any level of experience, the concept of "you can not run away" should be clear and an indication that something needs to be done about it benefits everyone. If this was an issue only new players faced then I would be less concerned about it, but this can be a problem for anyone. In PvE and PvP, especially in undesired combat, this should be a convenient thing to be aware of.

Just as convenient it is to check your health, capacitor, speed and modules. The concept of warp disruption is so embedded in this game that a PvPer without the ability to use it raises eyebrows. Bubbles cause frustration, and all they do is prevent a function that is only occasionally needed.

That is where it's particularly valuable to have a clear indicator if we're being warp disrupted; there's nothing telling you if you're being stopped from warping by a bubble but for the graphic and the failed attempt. If you're in starmap, you won't know if you're inside it. If you're in a rush to get to the edge of the bubble it kind of presumes you have a reason to want to know when you've escaped. The wobbly, gelatenous appearance of the disruption sphere kind of makes it hard to determine, even when it is in plain view.

This is just so starkly obvious to me, I'm shocked it isn't already implemented.

Excellent idea-- the current notifications are certainly better than the days when there weren't any at all, but as always the UI leaves something to be desired.

This is definitely one of the better suggestion/idea threads in a long time. I agree that the EWAR icons are too small. Unfortunately they are necessarily so. Its very bothersome if your targets are jumping around. (New freeze feature helps.)

Having some obvious visual and/or audio cues would go a long way towards the new player experience.

Current military technology does this. Why not in New Eden?

I haven't been through the New Player Experience since Incarna, but when I did I felt it very lacking in impressing me with the idea that "When you are warp scrambled, you are in serious danger and need to panic and flail and prepare to get your pod out and don't you dare blink because you will die in that millisecond you have between being in a pod and being in a station."

I definitely agree with how tiny the ewar notifications are, and they really should change this. Giving an audio alert to warp disruption also seems like a great idea as well, something you can't miss to help you realize that things may be going to hell very quickly, paired with a visual cue of unmistakeable nature. I do like the little circle thing having a red outline, or the color of the velocity bar going red itself. Either that or this sudden red flashing at the edges of the screen, that'd likely be quite hard to miss, and I've never played a game where that doesn't mean "Do something, this is a horrible situation" before.

If they do something like this there should be a 'calmer' noise for having a warp disruptor or web on you, a slightly more urgent one for neuts/NOS and the klaxon equivalent of "OH **** OH **** WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE" for warp scrambler. I support this idea.

how about instead of audio cues, why not place the icons above the middle console thingy that also has your hp/cap/heat/speed. Since you look down there often enough anyway, it would be nice to see the warp scrambler icon appear just above all that to show that one is being warpscrambled.
