Maybe because you tried to get us to actually pay taxes to fund a war we asked you to fight and then ****** up your enforcement? I mean seriously. Most Americans didn't even pay taxes at the time, and your taxes weren't even unreasonable compared to what the average British citizen paid. We were completely in the wrong, the only valid argument we had against the British was the lack of representation and your general annoyingness. You completely botched the war. World's greatest navy my ass. You couldn't even backup your ground troops from the sea when the French moved in. So you just gave up. When your nation collectively goes back in time and handles the revolution like somebody not completely ******** you can get your weird spellings back.

I'm a bit confused about who the "we" and "Americans" you refer to might have been.

I suppose you do realise that the people involved in the American Revolution were actually mostly British subjects rebelling against their own Government? There was no such being as an "American".

[Sigh.] The "we" you speak of were actually British and it was they who had the crap kicked out of them until the French army rescued them.

Which you wouldn't have ben able to do without the help of those "cheese eating surrender monkeys" as one of your presidents put it. If it wasn't for the help of the French you would still be the colonies.

I made the distinction because both Rebel and Loyalists remaining in North America would come to fall under this moniker later. For all intents and purposes they were the first Americans even if they were not called that at the time. I suppose I could be obtuse and refer to them as Continental British Colonials but I assumed everyone understood what they were and did not need to clarify.

Nah, there's no racism here. This is good-natured banter about differing national attitudes. Nothing to do with race.

37.41% of the voters are from the United States.

This proves nothing, the fact is we are not given an alternate localisation like Russian, German or Japanese.

Edit: And by your logic, we should have a Oxford English localisation as the UK is the second largest subscriber base.

I played on the CN Aion servers for a while, so I feel your pain regarding playing an MMO where you can't read the words. I was very glad they went with American English for the NA/EU release because if they went with the UK version I'd be back to square one.

There is an american comdey film where a couple of american tourist goes to the england and one of the protagonist meets one of the those inbetweeners in england and the tourist complains requesting the guy to speak english. I wonder if englanders have a problem understanding us if/when they take vacations in the states.

Then again the american southern dialect was a linux language pack once.

We have some trouble understanding Americans, especially when they want to go to Leicester or Leicestershire. They tend to pronounce it as "Liechester" or "Liechestershire." Another example would be "scone", they pronounce it as "scone" where it is pronounced as "scon".

Might I ask why you subjugate the people who can spell and pronounce the language correctly to such fallacy? Why am I forced to spell like an American when I am English? I cannot comprehend why, I, as an Englishman, am forced to improperly spell my native language.

Discuss.

Eve was written in amerikan from the start. I have failed in searches for armour hardeners for 9 years running. One day the search will be successful and i will know ccp has finally acknowledged my pain.

That is the worst argument I have ever heard. America did barely anything on the European front, the soviets took most of the losses and did most of the damage. So do not ever bring up such a futile argument and wave it around as if you matter.

I might point out that most of the spelling differences between US and British English result from early attempts in the united states by scholars to reform English spelling so that it would be easier to understand and actually follow logical phonetic structure.

Unfortunately they were only somewhat successful.

edit: also just to correct a historical point, while it's true the soviets did most of the lifting, Britain would have long fallen were it not for US support and it likely would have taken the soviets 2 or 3 more years without materiel aid from the US anyway.
