[BUG] Large Autocannon visual effects and sounds not correct?

I notice that when I do, say, an Angels Extravaganza mission, the NPC Angel Machariels firing their short range weapons (autocannons) at me have different sounds and visual effects from my own Large ACs (800s).

Is this an issue with the player 800 ACs? The sound of the Angel Battleships firing is more consistent with an AC, as in they sound like a large machine gun, while my own 800s sound like a large pistol. The visual effect for the NPC ships is a yellow stacatto stream, while my own visual effects are simple blue flashes at the gun's barrels with barely visible rounds.

I second this issue.
For the size and feel of 800mm AC, they are pitiful. Sound isn't that good , no muzzle flash, and the...blue tracer thing is just useless. Not to mention the size of the AC on a mach or mael is so tiny you get the feeling you are using 75mm rails, and someone in CCP forgot that 800mm AC has 4 barrels and not 2 :)

They (Angle rats you encountered) are not using 800's I think, maybe dual 650's or dual 425's. Medium autos are like that in a way...425's use to sound different from the 220's, now both sound alike.

"Tomahawks?"

"----in' A, right?"

"Trouble is, those things cost like a million and a half each."

They are definitely not using mediums, since the mediums I use in other ships also sound and look different from the Angels' weapons.

If the dual 650's sound and look like that, I'd rather have those effects switched with the 800s, taking into consideration we use 800s WAY more than dual 650s (in player ships) and those effects look and sound WAY better than the player 800s...

They are using large auto's, just not 800's. Dual 425's and Dual 650's are large auto's, not mediums. I was using mediums as a seperate example of how CCP changed some of the turret sounds around in weird ways. Having said that, I agree that the current 800's don't sound right. The large auto's the Republican Fleet and the Angels (which ever they are) sound more like what an autocannon should. Those sound alot more powerful.

What kind of 800's are you using exactly? I am personally using the T2 versions quite extensively and they pretty much are autocannons firing salvos, quite identical to the Angel battleships mentioned. They also have the according muzzle fire, "machine gun salvo" sound and tracers for me, while they have been using Artillery effects (single shot and trace rather than the "machine gun fire") before the new turrets were released. If you haven't cleared the client side cache since Incarna and the release of the new turrets, then please try that first.

As for the barrels, zoom very close onto a turret and you will notice that there actually are 3 single barrels in each rotating main barrel, contrary to the 4 single barrels the old icon had. This is better visible with the afterglow of a salvo on the according graphics settings.

If you find that certain variants of the 800mm autocannons are still sounding like artillery rather than ACs, then please feel free to create a bugreport on this with the exact module name.

I'm actually using T2s, so the same as you, and have cleared the cache twice after incarna, including one after Incarna 1.1.1.

I'll follow through on the bug report.

I am not sure this is related to the same 'issue' but my computer seems to lag each time my AC's (800's) and I found out my Artys (1200's) fire. When I bring up the FPS-monitor it clearly shows a big (from 60fps to around 5-10) dip in framerate each time the guns are fired.

Did anyone else encounter this too?
