I read on ten ton hammer CCP has announced on may the first , Uk players will be able to play for their subscriptions in pound sterling, when this rolls around, will it be an automatic switch or would we have to manually change our subscription plans ?

also just to say a thank you for doing so, as i dont have to worry about exchange rates bumping up my sub cost :p

Id guess automatic, since you can't switch from Euro/USD (without "cheating" using proxy's etc)

For tl;dr people:

It will /not/ be an automatic change. It really can't be. You have a contract to pay them in euro. They can't unilaterally change it. So you'll need to go into the subscription management, cancel your sub and resubscribe, at which point you'll be billed, and game time added to your account.

Plex will still be significantly more expensive.

(It all got covered at the round table. Some things are side effects of their card billing vendor, others aren't. Quite interesting really)

TL;DR
9,99 Pounds isnt fair against the rest of the world

However this might sound as great news for the UK player, the rest of Europe still gets robbed. Besides that the PLEX. market will get more expensive and EU players will most likely be less inclined to actually buy PLEX.
Here is why this idea how sweet it might sound is unfair.
At current market, the pound sterling has a 1:1,2 ratio to the EURO. The UK subscriber would thus pay 12,- EURO for their subscription. For Player using multiple accounts for multiple months it's unfair to have the EU player pay more.

Might instead suggest that CCP picks a key currency, and sticks with that? If the company wants pound it's fine let us pay the 9,99 pound in EURO against current market value. This will separate the eve market and the ISK market from the Real world economy. Which in my eyes isn't a bad thing.

CCP, Not just let them pay less, let us all pay less.. Or none. Same goes for USD. At today's market i'd prefer to pay anything but the EURO.

Our currency is working (not great) but as intended, that the economical system is broken that's not our fault.. But in any case, i'm fine with the UK paying 9,99 Just let us pay 9,99 pound as well.
