I would tell one person that this whole even't made me buy a box of razors and a rope, and then the next that I thought this was funny as ****.

See how crazy I can get the forums going, and then finally create a thread at the end that says: Thanks for the 10B isk, thanks for following the story hook line and sinker, I thought I would get something for sympathy last year but it looks like this investment matured nicely.

Atleast these were cohesive posts and not about bad play on mis-spelling.

This is pretty much the problem with all of this drama. People try to take one drunken throwaway comment and make it seem like he sat down and made a powerpoint presentation about how it's his alliance's sole goal in Eve to encourage players to commit suicide over a video game. The presentation was about laughing at stupid spergy drama queens who send angry mails and make rage posts over losing ships, and in my opinion there's nothing wrong with being amused by that kind of thing.

But you know what, I'm having a hard time this morning. It's Tuesday morning, I'm in work, I haven't had any coffee yet, and now I have to avoid doing any work in order to read about idiots on the forums who are blowing something out of proportion. It's all getting too much and in fact I am considering KILLING MYSELF!

Watch as everybody flocks to my side and attempts to talk me down from the ledge, telling me "we are all behind you, don't worry". Because apparently Eve-O thinks it's perfectly acceptable behaviour to threaten to commit suicide over a video game in order to make people feel bad about killing or scamming you, but if you laugh at that person for being a retarded drama queen, then you are literally Hitler

I have mentioned this elsewhere too, so what is to be learned from all of this now, if you are about to get ganked threaten to kill yourself and all is well now; And the aggressor of the situation is now in the wrong regardless of context.

And no one cares about the guys who sang their athemns. And some of their names were catually in power point.
Quick! Maybe they want to commit suicide too! Go offer them to sue the scotish WH guy who ridiculed and humiliated them in public AND written their names(and corps) in power point. Im sure they want some attention tooStraight

The sad part is that it probably was a pretty rough part of that guy's life and now a load of pubbies with agendas are making sure he relives it many times a day so they can flail around and try to get Mittens banned or w/e

I'm glad for his sake this didn't really take off, otherwise he'd have to deal with press as well, wanting to interview him about how he's apparently going to kill himself over a video game. Ironically, that's likely embarrassing enough to turn someone suicidal if they weren't already.

Well,I think it wasn't about some guy sending a private correspondence to a person threatening IRL consequences. The fact is that it was dug up and a CSM member told people present there and all who were watching to go ahead with griefing him. That's kinda harsh.

This is true, but think about how this all played out. He didn't even notice anything was up until people tried to talk to him about it today, which means that whatever ~almighty command~ Mittens issued during his presentation (which was on Friday) clearly didn't get much of an in-game response. Maybe a wardec, a few suicide ganks (which is business as usual for hisec ice miners), but nothing that made him really raise an eyebrow.

But then the wave of pubbie fury comes out and not only do people have to talk to him about it, they have to remind him of the mail, show him in detail that someone was making fun of him, drag out this crappy time in his life. He may never have even known about what happened if some opportunistic publord hadn't have submitted the story (lol) to Eurogamer in the first place and gotten these forums in a froth of self-righteous rage.

btw, I'm not criticizing you or anything for wanting to talk to him (though your part in the conversation shows pretty clearly what direction you wanted him to go), just sort of lamenting in general about how one drunken mistake got turned into a really ****** time for this guy just because some pubbies don't like Mittens.

Good post.

I do agree things went to **** pretty quick. But I believe if Mittens had apologised right from the outset rather than just sayin 'deal with it!' things would've turned out much better for all of us.

I think it's not fair to put down every other comment in here as just pubbie rage or supercap nerf. People might genuinely feel they have been betrayed my someone who is supposed to represent our beloved spaceships.

I do not generalise goons and I'm a secret admirer of many of your corpies/allies posting prowess. Mittens slipped up and recovered too late. Instead of this just being another rant threadnaught grew into the steaming shitpile it is now.

Also, about the convo, the subject of me contacting him was to find out what was happening with him post fanfest. Although there's always room for improvement,I did the best I could.

At the time he didn't remember actually giving the guy's name out, and that whole 'deal with it' etc was him thinking people were just raging about the subject matter. Whether or not you believe that is up to you.

Besides, I have my doubts it would have made a difference, given how many people are wholesale discounting his apology as it is.

Sure, there's some of that I guess, but this entire thing was driven by other motives - if you doubt that, ask yourself why it took 2 or 3 days to even get going at all despite the fact that the panel was livestreamed and Youtube was up of it the next day. At first glance, a lot of people didn't care about it specifically, but when the possibility to actually have something done to Mittens for it came up, it went into the stratosphere. That's not a coincidence.

You did seem to be fishing pretty hard for negativity, but w/e, given his answers, you'd have probably gotten them no matter what you said. I just hope people leave the poor bastard alone, since he's about the only actual innocent party in all of this (unless you think that writing a buttmad eve-mail 6 months ago is some heinous act, of course).

The mail in question wasn't the problem. What transpired later however was. And I was only asking him what he thought about the Eve fanfest. Anyways, I guess you could put that down to perception.

But point made.

Yeah, it's a photoshop.

When you add images together in photoshop, even if they're from the same source, unless you're really, really, really good at it, under high contrast and brightness sharp lines will appear differentiating the images.

This is a normal EVE picture.

Here it is under high contrast at a few different levels of brightness.

Notice that the lines are fluid outside of the window breaks.

Here's the publord's chatlog under high contrast and brightness.

Look at the sharp breaks within the window itself. Oopsie. Do a better job next time. Also make it so that you and the person you're talking to don't both sound like equally ******** illiterates.

Oh you Geeeewns!

First off, that snippet was taken with Hyperdesktop which uploads really low quality images. Plus I play with really low settings on my stupid computer. So comparing hires images to the low res is stupid.

Secondly,if you want to check for doctoring of images, youd normally check the threshold levels. Not contrast/brightness/saturation which you did there.

But go ahead and put this image http://i.imgur.com/CXEde.jpg through your failsafe method.

These are the two combined

After threshold.

Check the artifacts between the texts. If I did modify anything it would show up. I'm a freelance 3D artist by profession,so I know PS at some level.

Also, considering the quality of your corp posting on here,I don't think you're in any position to judge my literacy or lack of it.

Keep failing spectacularly, mate. Thats why we secretly love you!

Leaving this here in case more noobs decide to play photoshop.
