come the christ on

TA on wis: "when we have a feature that is its own functional ecosystem of gameplay then hooks into the greater ecosystem of EVE as a whole, and it provides good replayability."

I think at the end of the day we can all agree that this drama got Jade Constawhore to take 5mins away from blowing some figment of his imagination in the back of a station rest room to tell us about his space relevance.

I mean if that's not worth it I don't know what is.

Apology does not make it alright. You deserve a few smacks on the head with a crowbar for the way you acted.
Most likely the villain in-game overtook the "nice person" in real life.

CCP should have just throw the ban hammer to make an example of what not to do, but most likely they are too scared, and so prefer the "apologize so we can get this over with" routine.

Or it could be him playing to the crowd for laughs (because he was giving a presentation and trying to be funny), focusing on the moment without long-term or outside concern, and going too far. Ever thing of that, Mr Internet Psychologist?

The whole "drunk u is real u, y'know man" is a load of horseshit.

It was an unfunny presentation, dude apologized, and tossed over a huge hunk of isk to a guy who likely bots a crapton of mackinaws in a pvp game to escape his crapsack life.

There comes a point where moral outrage over a videogame starts imploding on its own inflated self-importance; this thing passed that point a good 50 pages ago.

As the person who sat with him at the fish restaurant a day before his presentation going over his notes I can field this one a little bit. I mean either take what I'm saying at face value or not, it doesn't matter much, but I'm not really known for making stuff up so here you go.

It wasn't somebody trying to be edgy or even king of space'y, or was somebody trying to be funny and not realizing that what is funny to some could be really insulting to others. The whole alliance presentation was a disaster before it even began because it consisted of unfunny chatlogs being read aloud which wasn't terribly helpful, but you should have seen the thread he posted looking for ideas on our forum which wasn't a whole lot of help either. So he collected what we found funny as a subgroup of eve, tears in chatlogs, and read them to show what kinds of letters he gets in response to our in game activities by people who take the game way too seriously.

The guy who got super mad that we blew up his spaceship did in fact send him a letter full of drama saying he was going to do this or that and frankly Mittens should have forwarded it to CCP and authorities so the guy could have had his account banned and received the proper help if he really needed it. It was a poor choice of logs to read aloud during this event for many reasons, but for many of us the biggest reason is reading chatlogs isn't funny. It's not entertaining. Who the hell wants to hear some dude read a bunch of logs?

I think he should be banned from giving Alliance presentations for those reasons but he's done a fantastic job as a CSM and that should be the end of it.

I don't even consider this cyber bullying, because Mittens only said it in a drunken stupor at a fanfest.

The guy is over 18 anyway, and didn't even care about it in the first place so people really need to get off their soap boxes, they have zero stance in any sort of argument about this. It's not about you, it's not cyber bullying; whoever said that in the first place is a complete idiot who doesn't even know what the term cyber bullying even means.

Come the hell on, the mere fact that pubbies are even having heart attacks about this makes me lose IQ, the little I already had. STFU and move the hell on.

I am not actually a sociopath or a sadist, and I certainly don't want people to kill themselves in real life over an internet spaceship game, no matter what I may say or do within the game itself. CCP may say 'EVE is Real', but EVE is not real - and the line between the game and reality should not be overstepped.
While the Eve Online character "The Mittani" would never apologize for any sort of villany in game, I myself, as Alex Gianturco, feel utterly ashamed and sickened by my behavior.

You should probably read the Tearms of Service again, that is, assuming you even read them once

Quote:
You may not use “role-playing” as an excuse to violate these rules. While EVE Online is a persistent world, fantasy role-playing game, the claim of role-playing is not an acceptable defense for anti-social behavior. Role-playing is encouraged, but not at the expense of other player. You may not create or participate in a corporation or group that habitually violates this policy.

Your apology is appriciated, but trying to justify your poor behavior with roleplaying is not.

Bullshit. I've said some really dumb things while drunk and had to fess up for them. I'd be willing to bet lots of money that you think bad things about people and don't say them out loud for fear of hurting the person's feelings or other repercussions. Drinking removes that filter

It doesn't make you a terrible person. Everyone thinks these things, not everyone is in front of a crowd of thousands when they're drunk and they say dumb ****.

You just contradicted yourself and then suggested basically killing the guy IRL. Bravo!

I'm going to guess there was very little communication here with CCP during his flight home.

Look, I've hung out with the guy in real life, I'm indirectly responsible for HIS PUPPY (I have the same breed of PUPPY!) and I'm 100% certain this apology is real and from the heart. I hate to break down his internet persona but Mittens is a genuinely nice guy and he just let the internet persona go to his head. I've done this, I bet half of you reading this have done it too.

I really, REALLY hate to quote any work of fiction here, but ... "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone"

He apologized to both the player involved and to the community.

It's over.

All the pubbies are doing is further harassing The Wis and badgering him for interviews and likely giving him even more attention than he would have ever gotten from anyone seriously looking to go kill his mach's, all so they can say that they have beaten Mittens.

Well said bro...

We all guilty of being insensitive assholes when drunk. We have all said **** that we wished we could take back. The difference is not all of us have the balls to apologize and try to make amends.
