Though there was a victim in the incident. It was not about just him.

Its about everyone and every player that will come later. Advocating a lynch mod to hound and harass someone from the bully pulpit of fan fast by a CSM chair to the point of death can not be tolerated no matter whom they are.

If he was a man he The mittani would have already stepped down from the CSM in totality.

Its about the players that will come later, and the other players we will interact with on dust etc. You cant grow a game with the reputation that some jack ass can order a bunch of people to harass them to the point of suicide.

CCP and SONY (dust) both know this. If they don't act there is going to a big door open to lawsuits if anyone playing this game hurts themselves over what someone does to them in this game.

Worse was that he didnt do this in game, he did it IRL at fanfest.

Basically the line was reached and crossed on how far you can go with grieving others in eve. And an example needs to be made. Especially that no matter whom you are you are not above the law with regards to EULA especially.

Actually I do feel sorry for The Mittani he got drunk, said something stupid. Now will loose the CSM seat if CCP isn't still hung over. Posssibly more if they are still drunk.

Frankly I think they should also make a funnier punishment for the Goonswarm people for standing up for this kind of rubbish. Force an Alliance name change on them for punishment for their German WWII insignia. Call them the Pink Fluffy Bunnies. lol

And this is why we live in a world where there's f*cking warning labels on everything. Everyone is scared to death
of being sued by some jack*ss that wants to get rich by pretending to be a "victim" of something.

Always these ridiculous threats of lawsuits. Does anyone that's even halfway sane like this?

He should resign and if not, be forcefully shown the door. This is unacceptable. I hope CCP has the foresight to see this is their opportunity to reset the standard and show the playerbase this **** is not on. It's also not just one man's juvenile actions but a culmination of the wider Eve culture's degradation that we've come to this point. I mean, again, that Alliance Panel - what the **** CCP. Reel your audience in, you're embarrassing yourselves and the rest of us.

Like it or not, there are laws against it in a few states already, you don't see an eventual cause of action against CCP? I bet CCP does.

As a paralegal, I bet Alex has already done the math here. Just a matter of timing now.

The griefing and trolling are part of the game, and CCP discloses in the EULA that it is. The minute you start playing this game, you agree to all sorts of griefing and general asshattery. Deal with it. There are no laws that can do anything against CCP. I always find the ESRB sticker saying 'online interactions are not rated' as slightly humorous especially when applied to this whole scenario.

When someone gets drunk and does such a stupid thing like Aled did, then he deserves everything he gets.

Advocating for people to encourage someone to kill themselves is NOT a light matter.

Except that that's b*llocks, 'griefing' is defined, is against the rules, and is clearly what happened here.
Most players who called for this extreme level of griefing (calling for a several thousand player harassment attack on an already 'distressed' player) would find themselves outright banned. And I'm having a hard time seeing why Mittens should get special treatment. I also think that anyone who followed Mitten's request and EVEmailed or otherwise harassed this player should given the exact same punishments.

Edit: I'm really trying hard to have patience and wait for CCP's verdict and the opinion of the other CSMs. I don't think it's very helpful to call for his head at this point. But the Goon trolling keeps reminding me that he's the one who wants to be seen as the biggest douchebag in EVE Online. And EVE Online could live with a few less of those.

He is in the process of resigning his chair, if he can get anyone to accept it under these circumstances.

I will agree with you on one point, I don't really see much point to the Alliance Panel... at least not how it is currently being handled. Now if it was a good natured question and answer period for alliance leaders, or a venue for alliances leaders to have a direct public dialogue with CCP devs, it would have a point.

Drunken alliance histories and war stories... not so much.

Not just goons, but the type of EVE player they represent.

Mittani doing this has become a catalyst for a much larger issue about this game.
