Now why don't you make 'log off' go back to char selection instead of restarting the client?

Because both login and eve voice will be moved into the launcher.

If you take all the sand out of the box, only the cat poo will remain.

I present CCP with the perfect solution for this issue: remove the character selection entirely! The multiple character function only gets abused for useless forum alts (because their owner is a toggaf and afraid of posting with his/her/it's real name) anyway.
